Free event to check out!

Hey families! Don't forget to come out and see us next Thursday, September 8th from 10 am - 12 pm at War Memorial Park for our Play Group. We will have fun activities, story time, crafts, and snacks. Our book of the day is From Head to Toe by Eric Carle. Activities are geared towards children kindergarten aged and younger, older children are always welcome to attend as well 😊

Parents as Teachers is partnering with Help Me Grow WV to provide optional development and social-emotional screenings for children 2 months through 5 1/2 years of age. If you have questions, please contact our FB page or call us at: 304-260-5884.

We ask that you register so our team can prepare enough supplies for our little ones. This is not required, but very helpful.

A great opportunity to learn more about your child's development! There will be information, screenings, and more available. Screenings and milestone check-ins are able to be completed for children ages birth through 5 1/2 years of age. Caregivers will be asked to provide their child's birthdate on the registration form to inform the Parents as Teachers team as to what screenings and activities will need to be available.

Parents as Teachers hopes you will join us at our upcoming event at War Memorial Park, 9/8 from 10 am to 12 pm. Our story for this week will be From Head to Toe by Eric Carle. This Play Group will be special in that we will have detailed information and screenings available for your child's development based on their age (birth through 5 1/2 years). Our activities, crafts, and snacks will all have a purpose to help identify and track particular milestones that your child has developed. Each family will receive special handouts and booklets to help understand their child's development better. You won't want to miss it! As always, the event is FREE! We will be raffling off books as well.

Older children are always welcome to attend! During this particular event however we are only able to do screenings/milestone check-ins for children ages birth through 5 1/2. Older children can still join us for story time, snacks, etc. however our program is unable to screen older children

With a great deal of sadness we have to announce that we are closing the BE-Hive. We have not been able to secure funds to sustain the program and cover costs. We are hopeful that the future will bring opportunities to revive the program.

Come out for Parents as Teacher's last weekly play group of the summer! We will be doing fun activities, crafts, and a story time all focused on a favorite of ours - Pete the Cat! This event is geared towards little ones ages 18 months - 5 years old but all ages are welcome to attend. You won't want to miss it! Snacks are included. The FUN is free! Parents as Teachers is inviting YOU and your family to attend our upcoming PAT at the Park Play Group! We will be getting together to have a paint party - and you don't want to miss it! We will have a variety of stations for your little one to practice using brushes, pom-poms, their fingers, and other items to make some beautiful creations. Our raffle for this event will be extra special! Your family could go home with a paint kit to create your next masterpieces. Keep in mind, we might get a little messy this week, you may want to dress your littles in something you don't mind getting a little splatter on.

As always, snacks are included! The event is FREE and geared towards children ages birth through kindergarten. Older children are always welcome as well.

Hi families! Parents as Teachers can't wait to see you and your children out for our playgroup this Thursday. This week is a fun, Down on the Farm theme. We will be getting messy with some sensory bins, shaving a sheep with some shaving cream, grooving to some Kindermusik, and more! DHHR's Bureau for Family Assistance will begin accepting School Clothing Allowance applications on July 1, 2022, for eligible children enrolled in West Virginia schools. Each eligible child will receive a $200 benefit that may be used toward the purchase of appropriate school clothing or piece goods for families who sew clothing for their children.

The following groups will automatically receive School Clothing Allowance benefits for each school-age child in the home by the end of June:
-Families with school-age children who currently receive WV WORKS cash assistance
-Parents or guardians of children in foster care
-Children ages 4-18 who receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, are enrolled in school and whose household income is under 130% of the Federal Poverty Level

Families who received School Clothing Allowance in 2021 and currently have Medicaid coverage should receive a School Clothing Allowance application by U.S. Mail in late June.

Families may apply online at www.wvpath.org or request a paper application be mailed by contacting their local DHHR office or by calling 1-877-716-1212. Applications must be received by July 31, 2022.
