Let's clear a few things up!

A person by the name of “Liz Perella” made a very accusatory, solely opinionated post about our rescue just a bit ago. Since then, she has deleted and reposted the same post many times to a bunch of community pages trying to make a point that apparently only she felt were “facts”… Yet she never posted any proof of accusations. I however, posted receipts, bills, correct information, etc., to every comment she tried to make. I asked her multiple times to call me so we can chat and I can send her answers and proof of everything she is asking about but instead she chose to block me so I can’t defend the truth to our community.

So let’s talk about it…

The accusation that we pull medical cases to "tug at heartstrings" and "open wallets" is not only offensive...it's insulting. Especially considering I don’t even post a lot of the dogs we do pull and help save, not to mention the community dogs I spay/neuter, the time I spend helping Berkeley, Jefferson, and Morgan county animal controls and humane societies day in and day out... Everyone knows I will drop what I'm doing and help the animals that need it.

Do you know why we post the dogs that we do ask for donations for? Because they need help. Surgeries, diagnostics, medications, food, training, and rehabilitation cost money. Because the public deserves to know where donations are going and the lives they're helping save.
We have before & after pictures before we transfer our dogs anywhere and we also have vet bills to prove that these dogs are being fully vetted by us. And let's be completely honest...how in the actual eff do you think these dogs are getting better while in our care... do you think we have a free rescue vet fairy that vets all of our dogs for free!? 😂🤦‍♀️ Vetting is EXPENSIVE and we take mostly MEDICAL CASES!

Let's also address the claim about dogs being transferred to other organizations. Rescue is about doing what's best for the animal..not feeding someone's ego. If a trusted partner rescue or humane society can place a dog into a loving home more quickly or provide resources that benefit that individual dog, that's responsible collaboration, not failure.

The idea that pulling a dog, FULLY VETTING SAID DOG, and then transferring it to a placement partner so I can continue to take other emergency dogs, is somehow deceptive, is absurd. The mission is to save lives—not collect trophies. I also do home checks, follow ups, and keep in contact with people who have adopted our dogs once they have been transferred to our local humane society. We have an amazing relationship with our Humane Society and we have pulled MANY emergency dogs from them but in return they take the dogs once they are fully healthy so I can continue to make room for others. We collect donations, we pay vet bills which often time exceed donations from our posts, we transfer dogs back to the HS once they are healthy, they get the adoption fee to help other dogs in our community. It’s a HUGE revolving door and it’s been working DAMN GOOD for us and the dogs recently!!!

Those who spend their time inventing conspiracy theories from behind a keyboard are welcome to trade places with me. Pull emergency dog after emergency dog, setting your alarm every 2-3 hours to get up and feed them, check them while they are getting fluids, sit in ER vet offices until 2 a.m., watch a neglected dog fight for its life, and then you can sit there and explain why asking for donations to cover that care is somehow wrong…

THIS IS NOT A PAYING JOB FOR ME. I WORK FULL TIME. I rescue dogs because I love to. I often times spend a lot of my own money for “extras” for dogs that aren’t even mine because I want them to have more.

I will continue to take the hard cases. I will continue to be transparent about their needs. I will continue to partner with reputable organizations when it's in a dog's best interest. And I will ignore any on-going attempts to tear down the people actually doing the work.

If your energy is spent attacking my rescue instead of helping animals, perhaps it's time to reconsider where your priorities lie. Our focus will remain exactly where it belongs: saving lives, one dog at a time!
How many dogs are you saving, fostering, donating to, transporting, donating time and love by taking them on doggie day outs and walking them, etc...?

If you can do better then DO BETTER!!! Why aren't you running your own rescue and saving more dogs!?...

Liz Perella why didn't you call me after I politely asked you to so I could explain your own ignorance to you? Instead you chose to bash us. 🙄🤦‍♀️ Get a life Lady!

Everyone welcome Tilly to the ATWDR Crew. ❤️

We wish this sweet little girl was joining us under happier circumstances.
At just a few months old, Tilly has already endured more suffering than any puppy should.

When Animal Control officers arrived at the property, they knocked on the front door multiple times and attempted to contact the owner, but received no response. Tilly was then found tethered with only a short cable that left her with virtually no protection from the elements. A nearby water bowl was completely dry. Her tiny body was covered in painful sores from head to toe, with skin that was red, weeping, and crusted over. Her face and eyes were swollen, and she had never received veterinary care or even basic puppy vaccinations.
After she was removed from the property, the owner contacted Animal Control and stated that Tilly had been a gift and had been in their care for about a month and a half. They acknowledged she had never been seen by a veterinarian and explained they had tried applying ointment while allowing her to continue playing in the grass. Ultimately, the owners made the decision to surrender Tilly so she could receive the medical attention she desperately needed.

Now, her healing journey begins.

Welcome to the good life Tilly 💕

Update: Purchased!!

Okay ATWDR Supporters... we're a little embarrassed to ask, but we're going to anyway.

One thing we've learned as a rescue is that sometimes it's the little things that make a huge difference. With so many dogs coming through our program, especially puppies, medical cases, and dogs needing weight gain or weight loss monitoring, we constantly need to track their weight accurately.

Right now, we're making do with what we have (i.e. me getting on the scale then picking the dogs up and getting on the scale then mathing 😅😅), but a proper dog scale would make life so much easier for both me and our pups! It would help us monitor medical dogs, ensure accurate medication dosing, and keep better records for our vets.

We added a dog scale to our Amazon Wishlist, and if anyone has been looking for a way to help the rescue, this is one item that would be used almost every single day!

We always feel awkward asking for things, especially expensive, larger items, because we know times are tough for everyone. But we also know we have the most amazing supporters who love these dogs as much as we do. ❤️

If you'd like to help, we added the scale to our amazon wishlist. Even if purchasing the scale isn't possible, there's items we added like dewormer that we are in need of as well but even sharing this post helps more than you know!

Thank you for always showing up for the ATWDR Crew. 🐾

Luna update!

She went to our vet yesterday and we did bloodwork and xrays. We confirmed she doesn't have a blockage thankfully!! Her bloodwork was all over the place but that was to be expected due to how emaciated she is. She's been eating and pottying fine. The plan for now is to continue her refeeding schedule, meds, and vitamins and see how she does! She's fitting right in and being so sweet and loving so far. This has to be such a drastic change for her so she's probably still in shock wondering if this is all real. Tonight she will be in a big fluffy bed, in her jammies with her belly full...
It's real Luna and you'll never have to look back! 💕

🐾 ATWDR Update Time! 🐾

The past two months have gone by in a blur, and I owe everyone an apology for not keeping up with updates as much as I should have. We've had a lot of medical cases come through recently, which means endless vet appointments, transports, treatments, and follow-up care. While we've been busy behind the scenes, so many wonderful things have happened for these dogs, and it's time to share some happy updates!

❤️ Dixie – The boxer Melissa and I trapped. Dixie was fully vetted, including her enucleation (eye removal surgery). We didn't receive any applications for her, so we transferred her to New Jersey Boxer Rescue. The best part? Her foster family fell completely in love with her and adopted her!

❤️ Geo – The handsome poodle boy was fully vetted and transferred to Rescue Me WV, who works with poodles way more then we do. He went straight into a foster-to-adopt home and is doing wonderful.

❤️ Opal – The puppy suffering from severe demodex mange. Her skin healed beautifully, all of her fur grew back, and she was transferred to the Humane Society where she was adopted the very next day!

❤️ Bailey – The severely emaciated dog we took in. Bailey gained about 15 pounds, was spayed, had bloodwork completed, and we made sure she was healthy after everything she'd endured. She truly came out of her shell during her recovery. To make room for Coco, Bailey was transferred to the Humane Society and has since been adopted into a wonderful home.

❤️ Oswald – Our American Bulldog puppy has officially been adopted!

❤️ Bunny – Mama Bunny has been spayed and fully vetted. She developed an issue with one of her eyes, so we've been monitoring that before finalizing her adoption. She is currently in a foster-to-adopt home, and her family absolutely adores her.

❤️ Bunny's 6 Puppies – One puppy went into a foster-to-adopt home through us. The remaining five puppies were transferred to the Humane Society and have all been adopted.

❤️ Dozer – The silly black Staffy boy's leg has completely healed. He's now neutered, fully vetted, and living in a foster-to-adopt home.

❤️ Mink – The double merle American Bulldog. Mink has been spayed and updated on all of her vaccines. She does have entropian and is scheduled for corrective surgery at the end of June. She already has a wonderful foster-to-adopt family waiting for her and will officially be adopted once she's healed.

❤️ Kane – The little brown puppy with the broken jaw. His jaw has healed beautifully! He'll be turning six months old at the end of the month and will be neutered before heading to his forever home.

❤️ Coco – The Yorkie mix with the massive shoulder wounds. Her shoulder is nearly healed, and she moved into a foster-to-adopt home last week. She's doing great so far and will be spayed soon before her adoption is finalized.

❤️ Munchie – The senior gentleman we pulled from Morgan County Animal Control. He's currently in a foster-to-adopt home. Unfortunately, his health wasn't quite good enough for neuter surgery during his recent vet visit. We're following our veterinarian's recommendations and will reassess in a couple of weeks. If all goes well, he'll be neutered and officially adopted soon.

❤️ Baby Swiss – The puppy with the infected puncture wounds. She's been on antibiotics, and her wounds are healing wonderfully.

Looking back through this list is honestly incredible. In just a couple of months, these dogs have gone from neglect, injury, illness, and uncertainty to healing, safety, foster homes, and forever families. This is exactly why we do what we do.

Thank you to every adopter, foster, volunteer, transporter, donor, and supporter who helped make these happy endings possible. None of this happens without you!!

Stay tuned—we have even more updates coming soon!

To all of the babies in this post, enjoy the good life, for the rest of your lives! 💕

Another emergency pup on her way to a better life!

Everyone Welcome Luna to the ATWDR Crew.

Today, we stepped in for a dog who desperately needed help.
Meet Luna. As you can see, this sweet girl is nothing but skin and bones. Due to an ongoing case, we are unable to share details about what happened to her or the circumstances that brought her to Animal Control. What we can tell you is that Luna is in rough shape and needs emergency intervention ASAP. So when we were asked to help, there was no question about it.

Right now, Luna's journey to recovery begins. She will need veterinary care, proper nutrition, a safe place to rest, and lots of love while we help her heal both physically and emotionally. We know this road won't be easy, but we are committed to giving her every chance she deserves.
She is the absolute sweetest girl and somehow still happy, wagging her tail, and still seeking affection.

As always, taking on an emergency medical case comes with significant expenses, and we could really use your support.
If you would like to help Luna on her road to recovery, donations of any amount make a difference.
Please keep Luna in your thoughts as we begin this journey together. We promise to keep everyone updated as we learn more and as she starts her transformation from survivor to thriving, loved family member.

💕 Welcome to the good life, for the rest of your life Luna. You're safe now!

❗️EMERGENCY HELP NEEDED FOR BABY SWISS❗️

Tonight, we stepped up to help Animal Control with an urgent situation, and now this sweet little girl needs our help!

Everyone welcome Swiss to the ATWDR Crew. ❤️
Swiss is only 8 weeks old. She was living in a camper alongside five other puppies and two adult dogs. For some reason, one of the adult dogs repeatedly attacked her, leaving her tiny body covered in puncture wounds. Those wounds are now becoming infected and turning into abscesses. She needs to see a vet to determine how extensive her injuries are and meds to prevent the infected punctures from worsening.
The video in the comments show how bad they are but business page wont allow you to add pictures and videos to a post together.

The truth is, we weren't planning to take on another medical case right now. The last several dogs we've rescued have required extensive veterinary care, and our funds are stretched pretty thin at the moment. But how do you say no to a sweet innocent pup that needs help... we couldn't so here we are.

Please help us cover Swiss's medical bills. She will need x-rays, wound care, possible surgery to lance and clean her wounds, and who knows what else they will find.

If you would like to donate, there are a few ways to do so (all donations are tax deductible) 👉🏼👉🏼

Let me just put this out there for EVERYONE to see and read…
There’s not an ounce of sorrow, regret, or shame in me when it comes to how I run my rescue!

I do extensive research before making ANY decisions. Anyone who truly knows me, knows how deeply I love my dogs, not only my personal dogs and every single rescue pup that comes through my doors, but other people's dogs who I don't even know at all. Their safety, health, and wellbeing will ALWAYS come first, even over my own, no matter what!

I will continue protecting them, advocating for them, and yes I will also delete ridiculous, uneducated, hateful comments from this page. My rescue is not a place for keyboard warriors, drama, or people looking to spread uneducated negativity.
If you don’t like me, my rescue, or what I stand for, that’s perfectly fine… but you can kindly block me and move along. I’m far too busy saving dogs and making a difference to entertain snide remarks from people who only have unwanted and unnecessary comments / opinions to contribute to their naive perception of what the rescue world actually is..

At the end of the day, every single dog I've pulled in my rescue has been cared for, loved, and given the best chance at a second life. That’s all that I care about..

If you don't agree on my training methods (including using training collars and professional trainers)... block this page.
If you don't agree on my decision to transfer my healed rescue pups to our local shelter for more exposure... block this page.
If you don't agree on my approach to anything I post here on A Tail's Wag Dog Rescue page.., instead of running your uneducated, biased mouth with no results and your comment being unseen and deleted... block this page...

Just because you "saved a dog or two" from whatever you believed their past to be, does not give you the right to come here and act like what I am doing isn't good enough for these dogs.

Please stop giving unasked for advice or remarks on our posts.... if you feel like our values do not align with yours then simply leave... You will not change my mind with an unhinged, uneducated comment I promise you!

If you feel that deeply about your opinions and you would like to discuss in further detail, feel free to message our page and ill send you my number so we can talk about it!
