This is a volunteer run page with the goal of helping to save the Shelter Dogs of the Eastern Panhandle of WV. This includes those located at shelters in Jefferson, Berkeley and Morgan Counties. Please join us in this task by helping to promote and network the dogs found here on our page for adoption, foster, or rescue. Comment a pledge of financial support to help dog if pulled by Rescue. WAFFLES UPDATE: THIS LITTLE SUPERGIRL IS HOME AND RECOVERING!

Remember sweet Waffles? Our brave little Chihuahua mix who came to us from a neglect and cruelty case, so sick that she had to be rushed to the vet? Well, we have a beautiful update from her mom, and we couldn't be happier to share it with all of you!

WAFFLES IS A SUPERGIRL!

This sweet girl recently underwent her leg amputation AND her spay surgery, and according to her mom, she did AMAZING! While she was under anesthesia, the veterinary team also removed some retained baby teeth, ran blood work, and administered some vaccinations. That's a LOT for one tiny girl, but Waffles handled it like the little warrior she is! 🐾💪

Now she's back home, resting and recovering after her long ordeal. Her parents and furry siblings are ready to shower her with all the love, patience, and time she needs to heal. And honestly? This is what it's ALL about. ❤️

Waffles' story began with neglect, cruelty, and a frightening rush to the vet because she was so sick. Today, she is HOME. She has a family who loves her, furry siblings by her side, and a future filled with comfort, kindness, and security.

LET'S FLOOD WAFFLES AND HER FAMILY WITH LOVE! Please leave some positive thoughts, healing wishes, and prayers in the comments. Her mom will be reading them all to this precious girl!

Thank you to everyone who helped Waffles along her journey — from those who stepped in when she was in crisis to the people who helped her find her forever family. Every act of kindness helped bring her to this moment.

FOSTER OR FOSTER-TO-ADOPT HOME NEEDED FOR THIS SWEET LITTLE GIRL!

She's small, she's fluffy, and she's waiting for someone to give her a chance!

This sweet poodle mix is still sitting at Animal Control, and Rescue Me WV would love to bring her into our rescue and help her find the loving home she deserves. But first, WE NEED A FOSTER OR FOSTER-TO-ADOPT HOME!️

🐾 Poodle mix
🐾 Approximately 1–3 years old
🐾 Around 19 pounds

We want to get this little girl out of Animal Control and give her the opportunity for a fresh start. But we can't do it without someone willing to open their heart and home! ❤️

271 DAYS. Nearly an entire year. And not one adoption inquiry.

Meet Gus. He's a sweet, gentle, almost 8-year-old Lab mix who has spent 271 days in the shelter waiting for someone to choose him. And the heartbreaking part? Gus knows what it feels like to have a home.

Gus once had a dad who loved him. But when his dad experienced homelessness and could no longer provide the stability Gus needed, he made the heartbreaking decision to surrender him in hopes that Gus would find another loving family.

Gus didn't lose his home because he wasn't a good dog. Sometimes life takes unexpected turns, and even people who love their pets deeply face circumstances beyond their control. Now Gus waits. He watches other dogs leave with their families while he remains behind, hoping someone will finally see him.

LET'S TELL YOU ABOUT GUS!
❤️ Almost 8 years old
🐶 Sweet, gentle Lab mix
🦮 Walks well on a leash
👧 Has done well with children
🏡 Needs to be the ONLY PET in the home
💉 Neutered and vaccinated

Gus isn't asking for much. He doesn't need grand adventures or a perfect life. He needs a soft bed, a cozy couch, a few treats, someone to scratch behind his ears, and a person who will let him know he's finally home.

Because Gus deserves to be chosen, too. He deserves someone who sees his age and recognizes the wonderful companion he can be. Someone who understands that a dog doesn't become less worthy of love just because he's spent years growing up or has a heartbreaking chapter in his past. Gus has always been enough. He just needs someone to show him that being left behind doesn't mean being forgotten forever.

Don't let his size fool you: Jazzy Jeff may be small, but he is mighty (on the leash). And what he lacks in height, he makes up for in sheer personality.

Dog Social Skills: Jazzy Jeff is dog-curious and would love to make friends, but meet and greets are required. I’m pretty sure he’s never met a boundary he didn’t run through at full speed, so he may be a little rambunctious for some dogs.

Jazzy J LOVES adventure. But if you have daydreams of surviving in the wilderness with just your wits and your faithful canine companion, you can forget about that right now. Jazzy Jeff is not your man. He was devastated when he couldn't say hi to a Lhasa Apso who clearly wanted to eat his face off… so his survival instincts need some honing.

BRUCE HAS MASTERED THE ART OF RELAXATION!

Someone tell Bruce that the couch is for sitting… because this handsome Rescue Me WV ALUM has clearly decided it's for getting cozy! Bruce enjoys his pre-bedtime nap wrapped up snug as a bug in his Portuguese blanket, and honestly… we LOVE this for him!

No worries. No responsibilities. Just a comfy couch, a cozy blanket, and the sweet life he deserves.

This is what it's all about, friends! Watching our rescue alumni live their best lives, surrounded by comfort, love, and the little things that make a house feel like HOME.

DOLLY is a young, happy-go-lucky, affectionate, and ready for her next chapter! This sweet hound mix is currently at Animal Control, and Rescue Me WV wants to bring her into our rescue. But first, WE NEED A FOSTER OR FOSTER-TO-ADOPT HOME! And trust us… you're going to fall in LOVE with this girl! 😍

🐾 A sweet, affectionate hound mix
🐾 Friendly, personable, and generally well behaved
🐾 Has lived with young children and other dogs and has done well with both
🐾 Loves people and has the personality to steal your heart!

She's Dolly Parton in dog form — a whole lot of sweetness, plenty of personality, and a heart full of love! 💕🎤

Dolly was dearly loved by her family, and it shows. She was well cared for, and her family tried hard to make things work. Unfortunately, they discovered that Dolly has a very strong prey drive toward small animals, especially chickens. As much as they loved her, they realized she needed a home better suited to her natural instincts.

And honestly? We can't fault her for being a hound! 🐕 Hounds were bred to hunt, and those instincts can be incredibly strong. Dolly isn't a bad dog — she just needs the RIGHT environment to thrive!

Dolly has so much love to give, and we want to help her get out of Animal Control and into a safe, loving home where she can be successful.
