Enjoy harmony in song, performing, and with new friends. We invite all women who love to sing harmony to come to our Meet and Greet on January 20, 2015 at 6:30 PM. Although some singing experience is helpful, there is not a requirement to read music.

Why Barbershop is hard...

Why Barbershop is So Hard

1. Learn the notes.
2. Learn the correct notes.
3. Sing the notes correctly.
4. Fix the bad notes.
5. Sing the notes with the Lead.
6. Sing the notes correctly with the Lead.
7. Sing the notes correctly with the Tenor.
9. Sing the notes correctly with the Bari, reveling in the awesomeness of the rub.
10. Fix the bad notes with the bari.
11. Sing the notes correctly with all the parts.
12. Fix the vowels.
13. Learn the correct vowels.
14. Talk about the correct vowels.
15. Sing the same vowels as everyone else, including the bari.
16. Sing the same, correct vowels on the correct notes, correctly.
17. Sing the same words as everyone else.
18. Sing the correct words, correctly.
19. Sing the emotions of the words as a continuous phrase, instead of single words.
20. Sing the same emotions of the phrases as the other parts.
21. Sing the notes correctly, now that emotions have changed everything.
22. Sing the vowels correctly, now that emotions and notes have changed everything.
23. Add in choreo and start over.

Longaberger Basket Bingo with Bags and Purses from "Thirty-One" October 14, 2012 at the Moose Lodge #120, 201 Woodbury Ave in Martinsburg. Twenty games plus special bingo games, raffles, tip jars, 50-50, and cash King Tut.* Doors open 12:00 PM. Games begin at 1:30 PM. Refreshments available for purchase from The Women of the Moose. No one under 18 will be admitted. All baskets and bags are filled. Ticket are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Proceeds will benefit The Harmony Along the Potomac Chorus and the Young Singers' Foundation of Sweet Adelines Int'l. We will surely miss Marge Boston. Marge was with me at the very start of the chorus. Such a beautiful voice and a beautiful personality to go with it. Everyone is sad. But we will do our best to sing for her at her memorial service on Saturday.

Great rehearsal last night. Carrie did a wonderful job filling in for the tenor part and we got through all for parts of the Doo-Wop medley. Going to be a fun show!

Another great rehearsal last night for the Harmony Along the Potomac Chorus as we prepare for our "Concert in the Park" performance on July 5. We are including several strong patriotic songs, some fast uptunes, an Irish ballad, and more. Enjoy our quartet "A Touch of Velvet" as they perform a few jazzy, gospel songs, some comedy, and a bit of "twang."
