Norwalk Soap Box Derby - Martinsburg, WV This is the official page of Norwalk Soap Box Derby, Inc. Bucky’s Ltd Norwalk Soap Box Derby is the last surviving soap box derby in the area.

This year the annual BUCKY’S LTD NORWALK SOAP BOX DERBY will occur on June 12, 2021 beginning at 7:30 AM ending roughly at 3:00 PM. Racers, ages 8-18, from a five-county region ready themselves to take to the streets of Downtown Martinsburg for the 21st annual Soap Box Derby on Saturday, June 12th. On the same hill in Downtown Martinsburg where children raced in the 1930s, Queen Street will be con

verted into a family-friendly race track with fast cars, checkered flags, and flashing lights for derby competition in three categories: masters, super stock, and stock. Winning racers from each category are sent by the Norwalk Soap Box Derby organization to compete in the All-American Soap Box Derby World Championships at Derby Downs in Akron, Ohio in July

The Soap Box Derby is an exciting and educational event for everyone involved. The community is invited to experience this year’s competition and camaraderie at the “Thrill of The Queen Street Hill”. ABOUT US

Welcome to the official website for the Norwalk Classic Soap Box Derby race in Martinsburg, WV! 2021 will mark the 21st year of this local annual tradition for the children of West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle and surrounding areas of Maryland and Virginia. The race occurs annually on the 2nd Saturday in June (except for when June 7th falls on a Saturday, we race on the first). The race is still held at "Red Hill," in which locals competed back in the 1950s. The hill is located on Queen Street, directly below the intersection with King St and the Town Square. The location is also adjacent to the Martinsburg Public Library. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or would like any additional information!
