A heartbreaking tragedy out of Louisiana is a painful reminder of how serious and complex domestic violence can be.

Behind many of these stories are warning signs that are often missed, minimized, or misunderstood. Abuse isn’t always physical—it can look like control, isolation, threats, or extreme jealousy. And when it escalates, the consequences can be devastating.

If you or someone you know feels unsafe, trust that instinct. You are not alone, and there are people ready to help.

If you’re supporting someone, the most powerful thing you can do is listen without judgment and help them connect to resources safely.

Support is available 24/7 through the National Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-800-799-7233 or thehotline.org

Let’s keep talking about this. Awareness saves lives. 💜

24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, the National Domestic Violence Hotline provides essential tools and support to help survivors of domestic violence so they can live their lives free of abuse.
