The Center for Sustainability is proud to present the Campus Sustainability Award to the Grounds Department. This crew has done remarkable work at UTM, improving the sustainability of our campus. Head groundskeeper Chris Virgin has increased the native tree population through grants which greatly supports the Tennessee Urban Forestry Council certification. Shannon Baughman is a professional arborist who maintains the health of our campus trees.

Shown with this year's Sustainability Award are (front row, l-r) Nathan Hartley, Mark Gasman, Zach Nabors, Mike Davis, coordinator of the UT Martin Center for Sustainability Dr. Eric Pelren, head groundskeeper Chris Virgin, Sustainability
Center intern Bella Redlark, Trish Chambers, Matthew Lugo, (back row, l-r) Marshall Burns, certified arborist Shannon Baughman, Dave Chambliss, Justin Lattus, Sustainability Center intern Brady Coleman, Tyler Earls, Haden Schlicht and Maggie Gateley.

Thank you all for what you do!

πŸŒΈπŸ“· Spring beauty (Claytonia virginica and Claytonia caroliniana) is here on campus. Check them out next week! Like how monarch butterflies nest in milkweed, these bees nest in spring beauties.
