GOOD MORNING FROM ST. LOUIS ☀️🖤✨

I decided it was time to go outside… but sometimes it’s best to take the whole fam with you 😂💛

It’s Mother’s Day weekend and for once I got the chance to plan a trip in honor of ME. Lord have mercy… I’m somebody’s mama. Actually, I’m a LOT of somebody’s mama 😭🤣 Between the snacks, the pull-ups, the “Mama watch this,” and the constant roll call every five minutes, this trip definitely isn’t peaceful… but it IS full of love.

I still wanted to keep it educational while making memories, so today we are OUTSIDE at the St. Louis Zoo 🦒🐘🦁

Currently:
• One kid is waking up with crackers in the bed
• One is peeking through hotel curtains like they pay bills here
• And the other two are still knocked out as is dad!!!!!😭

But you know what? These are the moments they’ll remember.
Ima finna wake everybody up with pots and pans WAKE IT ON UPPPPP

Happy Mother’s Day weekend to all the mamas outside making memories even when you’re tired 🖤

Everybody talking about the YNs and the YHs… but ain’t nobody talking about the YTs. 😂

THE YOUNG TODDLERS.

I got a 1-year-old that insists on pulling diaper wipes out no matter HOW I hide them.

I got a 1-year-old that bites.

A 1-year-old that gorilla punches people with BOTH fists in the air like she’s entering WWE.

And when she wants something, she’ll grab your hand and physically place the object in it like:
“Here. Do your job.”

This same child also wants to hide underneath my nightgown while I’m trying to cook dinner in the kitchen. 😭

And if she’s NOT hiding under my gown, she’s standing there tugging on it because apparently I’m not allowed to walk more than 3 feet away from her.

Then there’s my 3-year-old…

Who opened a Bug Juice and poured it in my bed FOR NO REASON.

Then casually reminded himself:
“Oh yeah, Cars is on in the living room.”

A 3-year-old who survives strictly off junk food, fish sticks, chicken nuggets, and french fries… but acts personally attacked by vegetables.

A 3-year-old who refuses sleep ALL NIGHT…
then wants to go to sleep right when it’s time to wake up. 😭

And let’s talk about cooking…

Because why does every meal come with:
“Mama can I help?”

Baby… no.
You absolutely cannot help. 😂

Now the meal that should’ve taken 20 minutes somehow takes 40 because my “assistant chef” is stirring too hard, asking 87 questions, dropping cheese on the floor, and taste testing every ingredient individually.

And then there’s me.
35 years old.
Tired.
Confused.
Overstimulated.
Running on caffeine, survival instincts, and unanswered questions.

I’m ready to be OUTSIDE with moms who understand this level of chaos because baby…
we are NOT okay. 😂💀

Kayla: part correctional counselor, part event coordinator, part backyard homesteader, part sleep-deprived mother operating purely on caffeine, instinct, and divine intervention. She can write a prison program itinerary by noon, repot seventeen vegetables by three, and still be up before sunrise being verbally harassed by two tiny supervisors demanding chocolate milk and PAW Patrol.

She is the type of woman who can discuss inmate case plans, Easter pageant logistics, fertilizer ratios, custody law, and purple ombré nails in the same breath without blinking. Equal parts administrative excellence and controlled chaos. Has likely used a spreadsheet, a glue gun, and a pellet grill all within the same 24-hour period.

Locally known in Martin as the woman who went to buy “just a few plants” and accidentally launched an agricultural startup out of buckets, kiddie pools, and pure stubbornness. Currently raising enough tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, greens, and watermelons to either feed a neighborhood or lose her mind trying.

Socially, she is founder and CEO of TMAO — a movement for mothers who love their kids deeply but also need to step outside before they snap. Equal parts support group, lifestyle brand, and escape plan.

Emotionally resilient, aesthetically chaotic, deeply funny, suspiciously capable. Can plan a prison ceremony, create viral Facebook captions, design certificates, troubleshoot blinds, draft official memos, and still ask at midnight if seven watermelon plants was “too much.”

In short: a beautiful storm with a clipboard.

TMAO check-in: Is it gonna rain today… or do I need to take my outside self out there and water these vegetables? 🌧️🥒🍅😂

Because if I drag these kids, my nerves, and this hose outside just for the sky to start watering my garden 5 minutes later… somebody owes me an apology.

The moms are outside… but we do not like unnecessary labor. 🌱💅🏽

Have you ever been schooled by a three-year-old?

While I was doing my one-year-old’s hair, I dumped out all the bows so I could find the colors I needed. My son climbed up on the bed and suddenly became the teacher.
“Mama, what color is this?”
I answered, “Black.”
He looked at me so serious and said…
“No Mama, it is NOT black. It is gray.” 😭🤣
I leaned in and sure enough… gray.
Schooled by a three-year-old before breakfast. I don’t know if I should be proud or embarrassed. 😂💜

Respectfully…
if you’ve never had a child cling to you at daycare drop-off
tears in their eyes, arms wrapped tight around your neck,
begging you not to go

and then had to peel them off,
hand them to someone else,
walk out with your heart still sitting on that classroom floor…

and within minutes
be expected to smile,
log in,
lead a meeting,
answer emails,
hop on a call like nothing just happened

we are not living the same reality.

There is no transition time.
No moment to breathe.
No space to regulate the lump in your throat
or the guilt that lingers longer than it should.

Just a quick glance in the mirror,
a deep breath in the parking lot,
and a silent “pull it together”
before stepping into a completely different version of yourself.

Professional.
Composed.
Unshaken.

While part of you is still back there
with a crying child
who just wanted one more minute.

So yes, respectfully
some of us are carrying two worlds at once.
And we’re expected to switch between them
like it doesn’t cost us anything.

Back in the day, 7:00 a.m. on a weekend felt criminal.
6:00 a.m.? Absolutely disrespectful.
Some weekends did not even start until after 11.

Now look at me… up before the sun, tiptoeing through the house with no lights on, walking by faith and not by sight.

I have two little gremlins attached to my hip at 7 in the morning, fully charged and ready to hit the streets.

It is only 8:30… and nobody is thinking about a nap.
They have errands, missions, and outside plans.

Meanwhile, I am on ChatGPT trying to learn about the garden I am attempting to raise, and every time I try to read something or type something, a foot moves my hand or a whole body pushes my phone into my face.

This is stressful.
Motherhood is definitely not for the weak.

Motherhood really said: “Rise and grind, baby.”

Who else used to sleep in but now lives with tiny unpaid alarm clocks? 👀⬇️

What some people see as an empty room… I see as potential. 🤍

Today reminded me that every big thing starts small.

A small step.
A simple idea.
A little faith.
And the courage to keep going before anybody else fully understands it.

TMAO was created for moms who need more than just scrolling on Facebook.

We need real laughs.
Real friendships.
Real moments outside the house.
Real reminders that we matter too.

This isn’t just a page.

It’s a village being built.
A movement growing.
A space for moms to connect, unwind, and pour back into themselves.

And trust me… we’re just getting started. ✨

ROLL CALL 📣😂 How many moms are guilty of pulling into the driveway, then just chillin' in the car for a hot second (or 10) before facing the chaos within? That car is: your secret hideout, your makeshift therapy couch, your thinking spot, the only place where no one is asking you for a snack. If this is you, comment 'I'm outside' below. And spill: how long do you usually sit there? 5 minutes? 15 minutes? Until someone sends out a search party?

Real mom talk… my babies are getting bigger, so I finally retired the diaper bag era. 🥹🎒

Now they carry their own little backpacks with their diapers, wipes, and everything they need. Independent babies for the win. 👏🏽

But once I stopped carrying that diaper bag, I realized I was missing all my “mom materials” 😅 so I created an Emergency Mom Kit that stays in my vehicle.

Baby… I use it almost every morning before work 😂

Hair ties, lotion, wipes, charger, lip gloss, snacks, random essentials… because somehow moms always need something.

Motherhood changes, but being prepared never does. 🤍

Anybody else got a car survival kit? What’s in yours? ⬇️
