Word of Caution: If you are in the park, especially if you are in or near the creeks, please be aware that it is secondary copperhead snake breeding season! A mama copperhead in the creek today came within inches of the men working to install the new walk bridge. Always (ALWAYS) watch where you are stepping! And avoid all construction areas.

It's time for Second Saturday workday at the park on August 8th! It looks to be a hot day. If our cabin ladies are available, the Callaway Cabin will be opened, and Board members will be focusing on the White Oak property and well as their other usual tasks.

Davalin, our newest board member, has completed the University of Missouri Extension training and is an official Master Gardener. (There are five MG's now serving on the board.) Volunteering at the park does not require any special training, though. Just a love of nature and an interest in contributing to the care of the park. Come join us on a second Saturday workday to discover how you can help.

Second Saturday workday is July 11th. If you want to help, show up. We cannot say enough good things about our volunteers. We couldn't do it without them. A huge shout out goes out to the boy scout troop members that participated in the stream cleanup last Monday. Thanks for all you do to help make the park beautiful!

Did you know that it feels cooler in the shade? Notice the difference the next time you take a stroll along the trails in the park. A walk this morning revealed what's in bloom right now: Poppy mallow beneath the kiosk, coneflowers at the cabin, and Jewelweed everywhere! What did you spy in the park today?
