What are Friends for?
We are a fund-raising organization for the Garst Memorial Library in Marshfield, one branch of the Webster County Library. Our purpose is to encourage and promote community participation and support for the activities and programs of the library, as well as to assist in its growth and development. To name a few examples, we have bought computers, provided volunteers for events and provided funds for the Summer Reading Program.
We also help with building and grounds maintenance and purchasing items needed to improve library services. This has included hand-held shopping baskets, book-sorting shelves, landscaping, and a concrete slab for the employee picnic table.
To raise the funds, we have held several events each year, such as Trivia Night, the Annual Membership Meeting, and a bi-annual Used Book Sale, which is held at the Central Bank of the Ozarks in Marshfield. Plus, we still offer books for sale at the library in the bookshelf near the entrance.
If you wish to become a Friend, forms are available at the library. Membership is only $5 per calendar year. If you are a current member, thank you for all you do! If not, please help us in our efforts to grow your local library!
