May’s theme is all about high adventure! 🏔️🎒 Scouting Troop 101 picks a new theme each month to guide our weekly meetings and skill-building.

This month, our Scouts are focusing on the basics that support high adventure—learning and practicing essential outdoor skills like navigation, packing efficiently, outdoor safety, and teamwork. From understanding how to prepare for a trek to getting comfortable with gear and planning, it’s all about building confidence for bigger adventures ahead.

We’ll wrap up the month by putting those skills into action during a 2-night Appalachian Trail hike where Scouts can practice what they’ve learned in a real-world setting.

Thank you to members of the Marshfield Police Department and Marshfield Fire Department who attended our annual Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser this weekend. Your participation meant so much to our Scouts. Thank you for all the hard work that you do keeping our Town safe, and for setting a great example for our kids.

Troop 101 shows up for the community in a meaningful way. 💪🇺🇸

On April 19, our scouts stepped in to support the Monument Dedication ceremony. They volunteered together to set up the Parish Hall, greet guests, and distribute programs. Afterward, they stayed to return the space to its original condition—because service doesn’t end when the event does.

Opportunities like this are what scouting is all about: teamwork, responsibility, and giving back to the community that supports us.

We’re grateful to have received this note of appreciation from organizer Jack Arouca:

“Tim, thanks to you, six scouts, adult leaders and parents for their help on Sunday, April 19. Due to the inclement weather the event was forced inside the Parish Hall. The scouts worked as a team setting up the hall for the Monument Dedication ceremony. They greeted guests and passed out programs. After the ceremony concluded, the scouts, leaders and parents restored the parish hall to its original state. They certainly lightened the load of the Revolutionary War Honor Roll Committee. They are an example of Marshfield volunteerism at its best.”

Troop 101 had 8 Scouts participate at Scout-O in Westwood before April break. Hosted by New England Orienteering Club - NEOC at Hale Education, Scouts learned the skills of orienteering and map reading. The day long event allowed kids to have hands-on learning in which they tried new challenges, learned about leadership and team work, and enjoyed the beautiful nature surroundings at Hale.

🍝It's Spaghetti Dinner time!

We are raising funds for Scout related projects and gear, and trips to the Appalachian Trail, Montreal, and Switzerland & Italy. These activities help us learn skills like leadership, teamwork, and community service.

Partnering with local businesses is our most impactful fundraising effort. Your sponsorship directly supports Marshfield youth by making our programs and service projects affordable for all Troop members.

April's theme is all about adventure! 🏕️🎒Scouting Troop 101 picks a new theme every month to focus on during our weekly meetings.

This month, our Scouts will be diving into the Backpacking and Camping merit badges—building skills in outdoor safety, trip planning, gear preparation, and teamwork. From setting up camp to learning how to thrive in the great outdoors, it’s going to be a month full of hands-on learning and fun. We'll put those skills to work later this month with a camp-out.
