Outreach will focus on flood hazards in Marshfield, new floodplain permitting requirements, and flood insurance.

The Marshfield Community Rating System Committee invites Marshfield citizens to its annual Spring outreach. The CRS Spring Outreach will be Thursday, May 16th from 7:00pm to 8:00pm at the Selectboard Hearing Room at Marshfield Town Hall, 870 Moraine St, Marshfield, MA 02050. Be prepared for what is hopefully our last major storm of the season. More resources here: https://www.marshfield-ma.gov/program-public-information-crs

The proverbial "Lion" that March was supposed to come in like apparently got tied up spreading havoc in California for past two weeks. But it's coming now and bringing any range of the following...snow (maybe), power outages (probably), flooding (likely), rain (definitely), wind (absolutely)........just a smorgasbord of messy stuff starting tonight and lasting through Wednesday morning. Wind gusts could exceed 70mph along the coast. Eversource is prepared to respond but with the sustained winds through Wednesday any power restoration could be delayed. Flooding during the 3 high tide cycles (Tuesday at 4:45am and 5:25pm and Wednesday at 5:42am) will likely cause minor to moderate flooding in usual areas.
Follow the link attached from Eversource for storm preparedness and remember to treat all downed lines as LIVE and immediately call 911 to report them.
The police, fire, dpw, schools and town hall will be convening this afternoon to set up plan of action for what is hopefully winters last hurrah!

Thursday night through Friday we will see some severe weather.....No snow but very strong winds (up to 65 mph gust possible) and heavy rains (1-2"). With astronomical high tides we are also likely to see splash over and potential minor flooding.....(could become moderate with any changes in wind direction).....We know this is a busy travel / shopping day and ask that you prepare for this as well as potential power outages associated with this storm.
Follow the local news channels for weather updates as this storm will be followed by our coldest temperatures of the season thus far on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day........we will be working with Eversource and our partners in town (Fire, DPW, Schools, Town Hall etc.) in preparation for this.
Stay safe (and away from the seawalls during high tides Friday between 10am and noon and 11pm -1am) 🙏) and enjoy the closing days of holiday shopping and activities.
