We were honored to present the Marshalltown YMCA-YWCA with the 2026 Tourism Champion award during the Chamber Annual Banquet on Thursday evening! The Marshalltown YMCA-YWCA embodies what it means to be a Tourism Champion. We are lucky to have them as such a great community asset!

Chamber Event & Tourism Coordinator Brittany Sichra and Chamber Board Chair Zach Stahlin stand with representatives of the Marshalltown YMCA-YWCA. In 2025, the Chamber established the Tourism Champion Award. This is “dedicated to the organization or individual who promotes, supports, and helps grow Marshalltown as a destination.”

Alice Nicholson, age 91, and Deloris Clayton, age 94, are still at it leading their line dancing group, which meets at the Y.

The Y was one of the stops on a community scavenger hunt today led by the Chamber for interns and newcomers to our area. They shot free throws to get their next clue on their adventure.

Planting seeds of prosperity for the future:
On just one day last month the Y had dozens of youth from the school district getting off the bus to take water safety lessons, cancer survivors gathering for our LIVESTRONG program, Special Olympics athletes preparing for their state track meet and our Y preschool practicing for its graduation ceremony.
