Jordan introduced this weeks program, Mallory Simonton.

Mallory is a Marshall native currently serving as a primary care provider at Horizon Health in Marshall. She earned her RN from Indiana State University and began her career in the ER at Union Hospital. From there, she continued her education to become a nurse practitioner, spending an additional year in the Union ER.

In 2018, Mallory joined Horizon Health’s clinic in Marshall in an acute care role. Since then, Horizon Health has continued to expand, including opening a new primary care facility in July of 2025. This new location has created more opportunities for patients in the Marshall area to receive quality care close to home.

Mallory also provides care at Willowbrook, Horizon’s neighboring memory care facility, offering the convenience of on-site visits for residents.

In July, Horizon Health will host a sports physical clinic in Marshall, with proceeds benefiting the Marshall Boosters.

We are also especially grateful for Horizon Health’s continued support in our community, including serving as the title sponsor for our Jack-O-Jog in October 2025.

🌎🌳 Happy Earth Day from the Marshall Rotary Club!

As we celebrate 100 years of service to our community, we’re proud to plant something that will serve Marshall for generations to come. This new tree, placed on the northwest side of the Clark County Courthouse lawn, is a living symbol of growth, strength, and the deep roots Rotary has in our town.

Just like this tree, our commitment to Marshall continues to grow year after year. Here’s to the next 100 🌱

PROGRAM CHAIR: Elaine Miller
Elaine introduced her program speaker, Jaylynn Schober, from our local University of Illinois Extension office. Jalene shared about Extension’s newer partnership with Rotary International to enhance Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA).

In 2025, Extension teamed up with Rotary to supplement the RYLA experience with peer-supported educational components that had previously been missing. RYLA is open to high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors, with each grade level focusing on a different leadership emphasis throughout the weekend.

Joining Jaylynn was Carly Foley, currently a high school junior. She attended RYLA last year and even won the design award for this year’s t-shirt. She’ll be returning again this year and is excited for another impactful weekend.

Carly shared how meaningful the experience was for her. She developed leadership skills in a way that challenged her to grow into young adulthood with confidence and maturity. Participants completed the True Colors personality assessment, worked through critical thinking exercises as teams, and built connections that extended beyond the weekend.

It’s always encouraging to hear young leaders speak with clarity and purpose about how a program shaped them. Sounds like RYLA is doing exactly what it set out to do — building leaders who are ready to step up.
