Ivy River Partners "Promoting partnerships to protect and preserve water quality in the Ivy River Watershed for generations to come"

The Ivy River Watershed serves a vital role to communities in both Madison and Buncombe Counties. In warmer months, it is common to see families enjoying popular swimming and fishing spots along the Ivy and its tributaries. In the late 1990’s, the watershed became a water supply source for the Town of Weaverville, NC and more recently a backup water source for the Town of Mars Hill. Since that tim

e, continued progress has been made toward maintaining and improving water quality in the watershed. Landowners have worked with local agencies and groups to eliminate many sources of pollution in the watershed. However, water quality monitoring results show that continued efforts to protect water quality are still needed. Ivy River Partners was formed in 2014 to address this need. Our goal is to provide continued water quality monitoring, assistance for land improvement projects, and education and outreach to local school groups, community members, and landowners in the watershed. With the watershed spanning two counties, partnerships between Madison and Buncombe Counties are fundamental to our operation. We strive to develop...
