Are you ready for exciting adventures, building lifelong skills, and making great friendships? TROOP 45 offers all of that and more! Our troop is committed to helping young people develop leadership skills, responsibility, and a love for the outdoors.

What We Do in Scouts
Scouting is about much more than just camping, although we do a lot of that! We focus on teaching essential life skills, such as teamwork, problem-solving, and self-reliance. With every activity, we encourage personal growth and community involvement. Our meetings are full of hands-on learning, from knot tying to first aid, all while having fun in a supportive environment.

Fun Adventures
At TROOP 45, we are all about adventure! We go on regular camping trips, hiking expeditions.. From building campfires and setting up tents to navigating trails, Scouts get to experience the thrill of the great outdoors. Some of our favorite trips include weekend camping at local state parks, summer campouts, and exciting survival skill challenges.

We also participate in community service projects, helping out around town, and volunteering for events. Giving back to the community is a core part of what makes being a Scout so rewarding.

Why You Should Join
1. Adventure---If you love the outdoors and trying new things, this is the perfect opportunity for you.
2. Leadership---Scouts offers you the chance to grow into a confident, capable leader who can take on any challenge.
3. Friendship---You’ll make great friends and memories that will last a lifetime.
4. Skills for Life---Scouting teaches practical skills like camping, first aid, and even public speaking—tools you’ll use for years to come.
5. Character Building---TROOP 45 focuses on values like integrity, respect, and responsibility. These values guide our Scouts to be the best versions of themselves.

Come join the fun at TROOP 45, and embark on adventures that will challenge and inspire you! Make new friends, learn new skills, and discover what you’re capable of with Scouting America. We can’t wait to see you at our next meeting!

Yours in Scouting,
TROOP 45 Leadership

UPDATE

The vet taking care of our sweet girl called last night with bloodwork results and initial thoughts. I couldn't update at that point because I was on my second trip with Fred, Big Eric, Chili, Jeff and Chandra to drop off at our local vet for scheduled castrations this morning.

So, her bloodwork showed chronic inflammation and anemia which is expected with long-term starvation. She doesn't appear to have a bacterial infection. She was not dehydrated. What she does have are some lesions in her mouth characteristic of a virus the state vet will be coming to test for. She will get over it if that is positive. That isn't why she has long-term starvation though. This is something she would have picked up in an auction barn or somehow from other animals recently. It makes more sense to me that the lesions were caused by her eating who knows what to try and stay alive, briars, whatever long term. But we won't have the answer for a few days.

I want to thank you all so much for coming together and helping this poor girl out. The estimate they required was $2500 and that's right about what we raised. I can't thank you all enough. She is so sweet and kind. She needs to know someone cares. I think she does. Look back at those original pictures how defeated and sad she looked, then look at this picture. Just in that time I worked with her in the morning, she looks like she has hope. I have no doubt the MU team will pamper her as we would while they get to the bottom of things.

I cannot stress enough the importance of quarantine. At our facility, quarantine and biosecurity protocols happen in 3 areas on the opposite side of the road from the "clean" donks that have been through quarantine. The 3 donkeys on the trailer were separated on the trailer then isolated upon arrival as are all new arrivals. They stay isolated for 1 month or until the last donkey of their group to get ill is recovered for a month. Disease incubation can be 2-3 weeks, so a month is really the only safe way to quarantine. There is further isolation stalls in the area we call the rescue hospital. Because they suspect her disease may be reportable, the fact she was quarantined and isolated prevents possible exposure to any of the others on site. This area is what the Boy Scouts came and revamped for us recently. ❤️

I will update more on this sweet girl once the vet calls this morning. Thank you all again for giving her a chance.
