For Immediate Release- Marshall Firefighters Association and Police Officers Association jointly endorse Amanda Abraham, Reba Godfrey, and Micah Fenton for Marshall City Council.

The Marshall Fire Fighters Association, IAFF Local 906, and the Marshall Police Officers Association are proud to jointly announce our endorsement of Amanda Abraham, Reba Godfrey, and Micah Fenton for reelection to the Marshall City Council.

Public safety works best when city leadership listens to and works alongside the men and women who serve on the front lines of our community. During their time on the Marshall City Council, Councilwoman Abraham, Councilwoman Godfrey, and Councilman Fenton have demonstrated a consistent commitment to supporting first responders and strengthening the partnership between city leadership and public safety professionals.

Throughout their tenure, they have supported competitive pay for firefighters, paramedics, and police officers, recognizing the importance of recruiting and retaining qualified personnel to serve the citizens of Marshall. They have also supported investments in the equipment, apparatus, and resources necessary for first responders to safely and effectively perform their duties.

As organizations representing the firefighters and police officers who serve this community every day, we believe these leaders understand the importance of strong public safety and responsible investment in the people and tools that keep our city safe.

After consideration by the membership of both organizations, the Marshall Fire Fighters Association, IAFF Local 906, and the Marshall Police Officers Association are proud to stand together in support of Amanda Abraham, Reba Godfrey, and Micah Fenton for reelection to the Marshall City Council.

We look forward to continuing to work with leaders who value public safety and remain committed to the men and women who protect and serve the citizens of Marshall.

Respectfully,
Marshall Fire Fighters Association IAFF Local 906

To The Voters of House District 7,

My name is Johnathan Wilson, and I am proud to serve as President of the Marshall Fire Fighters Association, IAFF Local 906.

Over multiple legislative sessions, I have had the opportunity to work directly with State Representative Jay Dean in Austin on issues that directly impact firefighters, first responders, and the communities we serve. Throughout that time, Representative Dean has consistently demonstrated a deep understanding of the challenges facing the fire service and a genuine commitment to supporting those who protect and serve.

Representative Dean’s leadership extends well beyond casting votes. As Chairman of a standing House Committee, he holds one of the most influential roles within the Texas Legislature. A committee chair has the authority to set agendas, determine which bills receive hearings, shape the direction of public policy discussions, and influence which legislation advances to the House floor. That responsibility carries significant power, not for personal gain, but for the benefit of the constituents and stakeholders who rely on strong, principled leadership.

Chairman Dean has used that position responsibly and effectively. His leadership ensures that critical public safety issues are not overlooked, that firefighter concerns receive serious consideration, and that meaningful legislation is given the opportunity to move forward. In a system where many good ideas never make it out of committee, having a chairman who understands and values first responders makes a measurable difference for the people we serve.

Our membership recognizes that leadership. The Marshall Fire Fighters Association, IAFF Local 906, voted unanimously to endorse Representative Jay Dean on February 13th. That unanimous vote reflects the trust and respect he has earned from our firefighters.

As I have said before, “When I am in Austin, Representative Dean is always willing to sit down and actively listen and work with me on legislation.” That accessibility and willingness to collaborate are not symbolic gestures, they result in real progress for firefighters and the communities we protect.
On behalf of our association, and based on my firsthand experience working alongside him, I am proud to offer my full endorsement of State Representative Jay Dean and strongly encourage continued support for his leadership and service.

Respectfully,
Johnathan Wilson
President
