Normally, our social media is filled with happy posts about upcoming events, new services, our collection, and the amazing things happening at the library. Unfortunately, today’s post is a little different.
Staff arrived this morning to find piles of boxes and books left outside our doors overnight. As a reminder, we do not accept donations outside of our regular hours.
Once staff opened the boxes, it quickly became clear that most of the items did not meet our donation guidelines. Many were outdated, moldy, damaged, or even chewed by mice. Unfortunately, that means these books cannot be added to our collection, sold, or passed along...they will simply end up in the trash.
We are incredibly grateful to those who think of the library when looking for a new home for their books, but we ask that donations be made thoughtfully and respectfully. Sorting and disposing of unusable materials takes significant staff and volunteer time.
