Oh, captain my captain! Today we will be celebrating the captain of the rowing team, Ainsley Patterson as she graduates from Northern Michigan University with a degree in Digital Cinema. Besides rowing at NMU, Ainsley played on a legendary intramural volleyball team and ended her senior year by participating in the acapella club.

While looking back at her years on the team, Ainsley’s favorite memories included waking up way earlier than any human should be awake to compete in regattas. Whether it was the caffeine or the shared misery, those early mornings built a bond like no other.

As Ainsley says goodbye, she shares this advice: “Try your best and be kind to each other! We are all always learning!” After graduation, Ainsley will be moving back home to Grand Rapids, Michigan in search of production jobs.

Ainsley, thank you for your dedication, leadership, and passion. You’ve been an inspiration to so many, and we’re all so proud of you. Congratulations!

We’re excited to recognize Morgan Rogers as she graduates from Northern Michigan University with a degree in Clinical Laboratory Science. We couldn’t be more proud of her accomplishments and are beyond excited to see where her journey takes her next!

While at NMU, Morgan tutored Biology and Chemistry for two years in the on-campus tutoring center. After graduating, she will be working at UPHS Marquette as a laboratory technician.

During her final year, Morgan took a leap and joined the rowing team for a new experience. She was an amazing addition to the team, and will definitely be missed. She leaves the team with a piece of advice: “Try new things! You’ll find it’s not as scary as you might think!”

Morgan’s favorite memory while on the rowing team was being able to watch the beautiful sunrises and sunsets that occurred during our practices.

This accomplishment marks the start of an exciting new journey. Morgan, congratulations, and best of luck in all that comes next!

As the school year comes to an end, we would like to thank our senior rowers who are graduating this May. To start, we would like to congratulate Rebecca Tatun, who will be graduating from Northern Michigan University with a degree in Information Assurance/Cyber Defense. After graduation, Becca plans to head back home to Florida.

While at NMU, Becca took part in various leadership positions and volunteer organizations. Such include her as a Sacred Space student leader, hospice volunteer, and Feeding America volunteer. Additionally, Becca was also a part of the Ripple Effect and Cybersecurity Association here at NMU!

When reminiscing about her time on the rowing team, one of her favorite memories was going to and competing in the Wisco Chase regatta. Becca leaves the team by saying, “Y’all are an amazing team. Keep up the amazing work, and keep the energy high!”

Becca, you’ve reached an incredible achievement — congrats, and best wishes for everything that’s ahead!
