Here's an update on MTRS (Marquette Trail Running Series)! It's been a busy spring. Lots of irons in the 🔥, but it's all good stuff. More good stuff to come... soon. Have yer' shoes ready, or your boots... or whatever you like to run or hike in 😉

----------------------------------------------------------------

For all of you patiently waiting for MTRS (Marquette Trail Running Series), you’re gonna have to wait a little bit longer. We are gonna move the series kickoff to June 30, 2026. The series will still consist of six events. Locations will not change.

The bottom line: We need a little more time to kick the series off right. Between fundraising for Gluski Park and all of the “usual” stuff, time has been a finite commodity. I’ll be honest - back in January I considered not hosting the series this year. I knew it was going to be tough to fit into an already packed schedule, but I also see the series as being capable of becoming more than it’s been, reaching more people than it has, by introducing more people to adventure and doing hard things.

If this is the first time you’re hearing about MTRS, here’s some background. Marquette Trail Running has been around Marquette for the last 15+ years. Andrew Rickauer was the founder, and last year he handed it off to 906AT. The goal of the series is to get people outside adventuring - on foot. When you sign up for MTRS you’re signing up to compete against yourself. Maybe this is the nudge ya need to try something new or return to an activity you’ve always loved? Life gets in the way sometimes. Training for performance can be daunting when you’re just trying to show up for family and work every day. The activities we love should restore us. They should offer a reprieve from the competitive grind - and a chance to do something for ourselves with people we enjoy being around.

Keep in touch. We’ll be launching a new MTRS digital check-in before the first event. The kiosk will track who’s planning to show up and provide an easy to use solution for event day check-in and timing 👊🏽 (Don’t worry - you’ll still be able to check-in the day of the event, too).

We've made significant progress toward securing the match from the Kobasic Foundation since the kickoff event for Gluski Park ❤

Today, we have $120,000 of the $155,000. Thank you for showing up for this project, and the community. Once it's built, this park is going to help us reach more families and kids and change lives.

One of the most important aspects of Gluski Park is the fact it's a place built specifically with the beginner in mind. Trying new stuff is scary - especially adventure related activities such as bikin and hikin'. When you're new to an activity you're worried about makin' mistakes and what people will think if you fall down. Heck, it's not even easy to find the trailhead most of the time!

That's not the case with Gluski Park. We're bringing a community trailhead for outdoor adventure to you - it's almost sitting in your backyard! It's walkable, hike-able, and bike-able. It's easy to find located on the city bike path in the heart of the east side. It's built for kids - that know how to ride and kids who are new to it. This is a place for learning, fun, and creating connections.

The Daniel J Kobasic Foundation will match the first $155,000 of support from the public. Since May 1, we've secured $80,000! If you wanna support the project hit the link below.

The Kobasic Foundation has offered a $155,000 match to fuel the public portion of our fundraising campaign, and you've answered the call contributing $75,000 since the beginning of May 👊🏽

Gluski Park is preserving a two-acre green space that was almost turned into a hotel. Instead, it'll be a community trailhead outside your back door. Easy to access by foot, or on a bike, and open for the public to use from sunrise to sunset.

Our belief is that every community needs a space for kids to play, have fun, and learn how to do hard things. Playing outside is one of the most important things kids can do. How can we expect em' to develop a relationship with nature if they're never it?

Let's em' get outside.
