In Addition–The Mino-bimose’idiwag Program is now recruiting student interns for the upcoming Mini-Summer 2025, Fall 2025 or Spring 2026 placements, and we encourage you to apply or share this opportunity with others who may be interested!

Our deadline for our Mini-Summer 2025 will be Thursday, April 24th with interviews to quickly follow!

This unique internship is open to students of any degree program from any institution who are eager to work alongside tribal communities in the Upper Peninsula, with potential new remote opportunities. Interns will be placed with tribal victim service agencies and will receive:
✔ A stipend to support your work
✔ Hands-on experience to gain practical skills in victim services, social work, and advocacy
✔ Cultural relevance by engaging in work grounded in Indigenous perspectives and community needs
✔ Career pathways to build a foundation for careers in social services, victim advocacy, and community leadership
✔ Training and workshops to develop your skills
✔ Opportunities to attend conferences and engage with professionals in the field

In honor of National Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the Mino-bimose'idiwag: Walking the Path Together Program is facilitating a free film screening of Sisters Rising on Wednesday, April 16th from 5pm-8pm EST in the Whitman Commons. The film screening will include the opportunity for registered attendees to create a medicine pouch and the film screening will be followed by a guided resilience-centered group debriefing discussion. This film follows the stories of Native women who are working within Indian Country to promote awareness and prevention of violence against Native women and people.

We are requesting that interested attendees RSVP to ensure we have enough supplies for the medicine pouch crafting activity.

The film screening will include the opportunity for registered participants to create a medicine pouch as well as a guided resilience-centered debriefing group discussion following the film screening. Everyone is welcome to attend, but the film does include topics of sexual assault, domestic violence, and oppression. Traditional medicines including sage will be present during this event to support a safe and healing environment for attendees. The Center for Native American Studies teamed up with the NMU Diversity Common Reader Program to present a series of conversations centering Leanne Simpson's *AS WE HAVE ALWAYS DONE*.

This week's presentation will be led by Jessica Corkin of NMU's Wellbeing Center. Jessica is the Wellbeing Promotions Coordinator and she will facilitate a conversation on Chapter 6, **Endlessly creating our Indigenous selves**.
