Freddy Sims, a passionate volunteer with Social Justice For Us in Marquette. Freddy has dedicated over 3.5 years to serving marginalized groups through various initiatives, from hosting the annual Juneteenth celebration, leading protest, to creating the Power in Unity photo series, bringing joy and hope to countless families and individuals.

With over 3,500 hours of community service we are so PROUD and LUCKY to have you!

Now, Freddy is pursuing a graduate degree at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, but this exciting opportunity comes with the financial burden of tuition, housing, and other expenses. If you'd like to show a little love and support, you can find their GoFundMe link in our bio. 🎁🎓😎

NMU STUDENTS AND MARQUETTE COMMUNITY!!!!!

With the ever-present threat of gun violence among our generation, the time to act is now.

Although we have all seen and heard of the recent tragedy at MSU and Nashville, there have been few efforts for real change.

As students, we are the ones most affected by these events and therefore it's our responsibility to bring awareness to our community and incite action.

This isn't only about guns, but also about mental health, the welfare of our people, and a demand for change.

We need students' voices, an effort to gather community and NMU organizations has been made, but little to no support has been received.

THIS Thursday, the thirteenth, at 5 pm a group of individuals and I will be hosting a protest against gun violence.

The march will start outside the Northern Center and head down Third Street until we hit Washington, this section is a 20 - 30 minute walk. From there, our group will continue marching toward Harlow Park.

Bring your passion and channel your anger, our words are our weapons and we need effective solutions.
