More alumni Success!!!
As March comes to a close, we’re proud to celebrate the incredible women recognized in the Governor’s Proclamation declaring March 2026 as Illinois Month of the Woman Farmer. 🌾
Four of the five honorees joined us at Illinois Agriculture Legislative Day, where they were recognized for their groundbreaking contributions and lasting impact on agriculture:
🌟 Mindy Elvidge Bunselmeyer – The first female Illinois FFA State President and now Executive Director of the Illinois FFA Center, continuing to lead and inspire the next generation.
🌟 Betsy Pech – Illinois’ first female agriculture teacher, who spent 34 years shaping students’ futures and paving the way for generations of women in ag education.
🌟 Janice Seitz – The first woman to serve as Illinois 4-H Director, growing the program and expanding opportunities for youth across the state.
🌟 Becky Doyle – The first (and only) female Director of the Illinois Department of Agriculture, a trailblazer who strengthened markets, championed sustainability, and served agriculture on a global scale.
We also honor the legacy of 🌟 Annette Kohlhagen Fleck, whose vision for Annie’s Project continues to empower women in agriculture nationwide.
These women didn’t just break barriers — they built pathways. Their leadership, innovation, and dedication continue to shape the future of Illinois agriculture.
Join us in celebrating their achievements and the countless women who keep our industry growing every day. 💚
