A few years ago, VFW Post 1192 was down to five or six members. Army veteran William Schmidt III stepped up as commander, and now almost every seat is full. Check out this week's Service After the Uniform.

Today, VFW Post 1192 and American Legion Post 55 Dobbs-Adams joined together with Amvets Post 11 - Duncan, Oklahoma to honor and remember the innocent lives lost and the heroes who stepped forward 25 years ago on September 11, 2001.

While it is always a somber day as we reflect on the heavy burdens borne by our military and first responders, it is also a powerful reminder of the resilience and unity that defines our nation. Seeing our community gather in shared remembrance gives us immense hope and pride in the generation that stood up to defend the best of America.

A special thank you to Desiree Miller for her dedication in coordinating today's meaningful event and ensuring we continue to honor those who served and sacrificed.

We see you, we honor you, and we will never forget.

Today, Post 1192 came together to help clean up an overgrown yard for the mother of a veteran who is no longer with us.
It was a simple act, but it meant something. When someone has served, the bond doesn’t just disappear when they’re gone, and neither does our responsibility to the family they leave behind.
We remember our brothers and sisters in arms, we honor their service, and we do our best to look after the people they loved.
