We wanted to let you know about an upcoming information session sponsored by Braven Health, The Horizon Foundation, and the NJ State Veterans Chamber of Commerce. The Horizon Foundation is putting out an RFP (Requests for proposals) for several veteran-focused grants for veteran charitable organizations operating in New Jersey. This grant opportunity, also known as the Veterans Health Initiative, will be selecting grantees for grants valued at up to $20,000 for the year.
There will be two information sessions that will discuss what the program is all about, how to apply, and you will be able to ask questions to Horizon BC/BS personnel regarding this grant.
The first Information Session will take place on March 6th, 2025 at 6PM via Zoom.

The Veterans Health Initiative is a new grants program with a specific focus on supporting programs within one of the following key areas:
Behavioral Health: Supporting veterans’ mental health needs, including for post-traumatic stress, military sexual trauma, su***de prevention, anxiety, depression, substance use disorder and other behavioral health concerns.
Housing & Food Security: Helping veterans and their families access safe, affordable and stable housing, and essential food resources.
Economic Opportunity: Providing veterans with the tools, resources and business connections to help them thrive professionally, including training, mentorship and networking.
The Foundation will award one-year program grants up to $20,000 for veterans’ organizations, serving veterans and their families. Grant funds will not support general operating support.
The Veterans Health Initiative will be issued under a Request for Proposals period that will open February 3, 2025. It will remain open through the submission deadline of May 7, 2025. Applicants will be informed of grant decisions in July 2025. The one-year grant period will commence October 1, 2025, and run through September 30, 2026. Please note that this is a one-time special grants program.
