Last Saturday on the eve of the Wendell Judd Cup we dedicated and named our warming hut “Randy’s Roost” to thank Randy Knaggs for his contributions to skiing and our trail network in Marlboro. For those that do not know Randy, or the history of this groomed trail system, read along! Before the Marlboro Nordic Ski Club was founded in 2020, the trails in our community were maintained and groomed by Marlboro College. Randy was the long-time Outdoor Program Director and responsible for bringing groomed trails to Marlboro, creating robust and lasting relations with landowners to support the trail network, and introduced so many people to the experiences of the outdoors. In addition to this, Randy did so much more and is truly beloved by all the lives he made a positive impact upon. Randy was also my mentor and taught me the ins and outs of this trail network, the community, and gave me the tools I needed to start our wonderful ski club. Our trails have changed over the years and we have grown in ways I didn’t think possible, so it’s important to bring thanks and recognization to the forces that made this possible. Thank you Randy!
