Today, the Avoyelles Arts Council was the special guest of Move Bunkie Forward. The children got to make art with household items like forks and Q-tips for painting tools. They also got the chance to paint canvas for the Avoyelles Arts & Music Festival . They were a really well-behaved, polite bunch. We love our community and support our future generations.

Day 5 of the Avoyelles Arts Council Summer Art Camp. Someone send scissors ✂️ , we got tied up in yarn today 🧶.

We learned that some things are hard but we don’t give up! We hold the line, loop, and pull through!

Today’s finale was wonderful. Thank you to all that participated, volunteers, and parents for trusting us with your kids!

Until next year!

Day 4 pictures aren’t as plentiful but that’s because fun was made with watercolors.

We started the day with a tetraflexagon (look it up). Then we went on to learn that crayons and a little household ingredients like dish soap and salt can help us learn techniques for perfecting our watercolor art. I was messy but fun. 🫟

We also had a drop in interview by THE Steven Maxwell TV.

Until tomorrow.

Day 3 of the Avoyelles Arts Council Summer Art Camp. Future city planners maybe?

We asked parents to bring recycled materials. Those materials were used today and we built “Recycled Town”.

The kids built parks, waterfalls, towers, houses, skyscrapers, libraries, town hall, cafes, plants, animals…😮‍💨

Honorable Mayor Dave and his partner, Jessica, are thrilled to share with you their bustling metropolis. Enjoy!

🎨✨ Congratulations to Reese Smigura! ✨🎨

The Avoyelles Arts Council is proud to congratulate Reese Smigura for designing the official artwork for the 15th Annual Avoyelles Arts & Music Festival !

Reese is a junior at Avoyelles Public Charter School and a talented art student of Callie Borne. Her creativity, artistic vision, and dedication have earned her the honor of having her artwork represent this year’s festival celebration. We are excited to showcase Reese’s design as we celebrate 15 years of art, music, culture, and community on July 4, 2026, during the Avoyelles Arts & Music Festival.

Please join us in congratulating Reese on this outstanding achievement and wishing her continued success in her artistic journey!

Day one of the Avoyelles Arts Council summer art camp was a success! The kids had so much fun. Thank you to La Petite Affaire Boulangers and happy birthday Roy Guilbeau Jr.

Today the kids learned the value of using fresh ingredients, decorated the restaurant, and their very own cupcake to celebrate. They even went home with a party favor complements of Moncla Nursery LLC. This is how community shows up for one another.
