BREAKING NEWS FROM MARKLEEVILLE:
CUTTHROAT TAVERN SET TO OPEN BEFORE SUMMER
A group of investors headed by Clint Celio and J.T. Chevallier finalized the purchase of the now-Cutthroat Tavern building at 14830 Highway 89 in Markleeville this week. The tavern is not open for business yet but Celio said the establishment will likely open in May in advance of the summer season. Celio, a graduate of Douglas High School, also owns Woodfords Station which is in Woodfords near the intersection of highways 89 and 88. Untl last year, the establishment was known as the Cutthroat Brewing Company. The building dates to 1862 and was first located in Silver Mountain City, which is now a ghost town about five miles west of the intersection of highways 4 and 89. The building was relocated to Markleeville in 1886.
