We are pleased to share that Connections Emergency Shelter will extend operations in it's current location through July 31, 2026.

This extension helps ensure continued support for those who rely on shelter services while providing time for Mariposa County's Request for Proposal process to move forward and for a thoughtful transition to future operations. By maintaining services during this time, we can better support our clients, our partners, and the community as a whole.

Thank you to our staff, partners, and community members for your continued support.

✨ Strong Women. Strong Leadership. Strong Community. ✨

Our all-female Tribal Council came together for our first Board Retreat—a meaningful time to connect, reflect, plan, and strengthen our shared vision for the future of the Southern Sierra Miwuk Nation.

As Indigenous women leaders, we carry the responsibility of honoring our ancestors, supporting our community, and helping guide the next generation. This retreat provided an opportunity to build stronger relationships, engage in thoughtful discussions, and continue the important work of serving our Tribal citizens with dedication, compassion, and purpose.

We are proud of the strength, wisdom, and commitment each council member brings to the table. Together, we are working to preserve our culture, support our people, and create a brighter future for generations to come.

A special thank you to Mariposa Ignite Space for generously providing a welcoming space for our first retreat. Your support helped make this gathering possible, and we are truly grateful.

What is the Wellbriety Movement you ask:

The Wellbriety Movement is a journey of healing that combines recovery, wellness, culture, and community. The word Wellbriety means moving beyond sobriety and toward a life of balance, purpose, and wellness in mind, body, spirit, and emotions.

Walking the Red Road is a traditional Indigenous teaching that encourages us to live in a good way—with honesty, respect, humility, courage, and connection to our culture, community, and Creator. It is a path of healing, responsibility, and personal growth.

✨ How can Wellbriety help?
• Strengthen recovery from alcohol, drugs, and other addictions
• Reconnect with cultural identity and traditional values
• Build healthier relationships with family and community
• Improve emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual wellness
• Create a supportive network of people on a similar healing journey
• Learn tools for coping with stress, grief, trauma, and life’s challenges

The Red Road reminds us that healing is not something we do alone. Our ancestors, culture, community, and future generations all walk beside us.

❤️ Whether you are seeking recovery, personal growth, cultural connection, or simply a healthier way of living, the Wellbriety journey welcomes you.

“Healing the individual, healing the family, healing the community, healing the nation.”

📢 We Want to Hear From You Tribal Community ! 📢

The MiwuMati Family Healing Center is working to better understand the needs of our tribal families and tribal community members. We have created a short Family Needs & Resource Survey to help us identify what resources, supplies, services, and programs would be most beneficial.

Your feedback will help us plan future outreach events and guide the distribution of available resources such as:
🧴 Toiletries & Hygiene Supplies
🧻 Household Essentials
👶 Diapers & Baby Wipes
🍎 Food Assistance
🎨 Youth & Cultural Activities
❤️ Wellness & Behavioral Health Programs

The survey only takes a few minutes to complete, and every response helps us better serve our community.
