There is a bit of misinformation circulating about this new group so we just want to clarify that we invite any question you may have!
If you reside in Mariposa, you are likely aware of the homeless crisis and the increasing trends in housing costs which can result in cyclical poverty. You may also be aware of the recent funding which was provided to the County to close the encampment and assist in relocation of houseless individuals in Mariposa. These things are happening now. That is the reason why this group is also forming now. Houseless communities are seeking a voice in the decision-making processes which will soon shape their realities. They are seeking to be heard, seen, and made part of the conversation.
That is the purpose of this group. We are not asking for financial assistance. We are simply creating a safe space to have these discussions and raise awareness about homelessness. This group is open to all members of the community. We will, additionally, never ask for anything other than for you to stand with us in solidarity.
The completely baseless accusations recently made about scamming are false and only further divide our community.
