The Yosemite Facelift, the largest organized volunteer cleanup of any national park, is hosted by the Yosemite Climbing Association in partnership with the National Park Service and Delaware North Parks and Resorts at Yosemite. This annual event happens in coordination with the National Public Lands Day in September.

Wellโ€ฆ you all did something pretty incredible today.

The Kickstarter for the first annual Yosemite Film Festival & Storyteller Summit officially closed at $21,139 raised from 170 backers.

Somehow, this little Yosemite idea turned into something very real.

Over the last month, weโ€™ve talked a lot about film, but this project is really about Yosemite and the stories connected to it. Stories from the past, stories being created right now, and stories that deserve to exist long into the future.

That idea is deeply connected to Yosemite Facelift and the Yosemite Climbing Museum. One helps care for the park itself. The other helps preserve the history and culture that make Yosemite so special. This festival brings those worlds together through storytelling, photography, film, and community.

Wild places. Bold stories. Shared responsibility.

To everyone who backed this project, shared it, encouraged us, bought a patron pass, or followed along while we built this thing in real timeโ€ฆ thank you. Seriously. ๐Ÿ–ค

And somehow, even after the campaign officially closed, late pledges are still rolling in tonight. Thereโ€™s even one First Ascent Patron spot still hanging around for anyone who wants to sneak into Year One as a founding supporter.

See you in the Valley.

We crossed $20,000 this morning, which honestly feels a little unreal. ๐Ÿ–ค

So far, 164 people have backed Year One of the Yosemite Film Festival. Thank you. Seriously.

A lot of this festival grew out of Yosemite Facelift and the Climbing Museum. Out of conversations about Yosemite history, stewardship, climbing culture, storytelling, and what it means to care for a place like this.

The museum helps preserve the stories of Yosemiteโ€™s past.
Facelift helps protect Yosemiteโ€™s future.

This festival sits somewhere in the middle. A place for people to share stories about wild places, adventure, community, and responsibility to the landscapes we love.

There are just a couple hours left before the Kickstarter closes. If youโ€™ve been following along and want to be part of Year One, this is the final stretch.

Thank you for believing in our "little" idea.

Still at the museum tonight. ๐ŸŒ™

Thereโ€™s something pretty special about working on the future of Yosemite storytelling surrounded by the history that helped shape it.

147 people have already backed Year One of the Yosemite Film Festival & Storyteller Summit and honestlyโ€ฆ weโ€™re blown away.

If youโ€™ve been thinking about becoming part of Year One before the Kickstarter closes tomorrow, tonightโ€™s the night. ๐Ÿ–ค

Our one-eyed office manager is handling quality control during the final 18 hours of the Kickstarter. ๐Ÿถ

Meanwhile, the rest of us are buried in film schedules, workshop planning, posters, merch, filmmaker emails, and approximately 4,000 open tabs as we pull together Year One of the Yosemite Film Festival & Storyteller Summit.

Honestly, this whole thing is becoming real really fast.

140 people have already backed the festival and helped raise more than $17,600 for Year One in Yosemite Valley. We truly canโ€™t thank this community enough for showing up the way you have.

If youโ€™ve been thinking about becoming part of Year One, this is basically the moment. ๐Ÿ–ค

Before there was a Film Festival, there was Facelift.

For over 20 years, Yosemite Facelift has brought together climbers, artists, photographers, volunteers, park rangers, dirtbags, and people who care deeply about this place.

And somewhere along the way, it became more than a cleanup.

It became campfire conversations in the campground after long days. Professional athletes and climbers telling stories on the auditorium stage. Friendships formed over coffee at sunrise and piles of trash at the end of the day.

It became a place where Yosemite stories were shared, preserved, and passed on.

Honestly, the Yosemite Film Festival exists because this community already showed us what Yosemite stewardship can look like.

Not just cleaning up the park, but building connection to it through storytelling, history, art, film, climbing, and shared experiences.

Thatโ€™s what weโ€™re building with the Yosemite Film Festival & Storyteller Summit.

Films in Yosemite Valley. Conversations about climbing, stewardship, history, and adventure. Workshops. Community gatherings. Stories rooted in place.

And somehow, this already feels like more than just a film festival.

Over the next few weeks, weโ€™ll start sharing programming announcements, film blocks, speakers, and more of what weโ€™ve been building behind the scenes.

Year One is starting to come to life. ๐Ÿ–ค

WE FUNDED YEAR ONE. ๐Ÿ–ค

Last week, this community fully funded the inaugural Yosemite Film Festival & Storyteller Summit.

Honestly, weโ€™re still processing it.

What started as an idea around storytelling, climbing culture, stewardship, and Yosemite has quickly become something much bigger than we imagined.

Because of this community, we now get to build:
โ€ข filmmaker support
โ€ข live storytelling & conversations
โ€ข workshops & community gatherings
โ€ข films rooted in adventure, climbing, public lands, and place
โ€ข a new space for Yosemite stories to be shared

And the best part?

This doesnโ€™t feel like โ€œjust another film festival.โ€

It already feels like a community project. A gathering. Something built by people who deeply care about Yosemite and the stories connected to it.

Thank you for believing in this.

Weโ€™re already working on programming announcements, schedule releases, workshops, ticket sales, and a lot more behind the scenes.

And if you still want to jump in and help shape Year One, the Kickstarter is still live.

Be part of it. ๐Ÿ‘‰ https://tinyurl.com/YCAfestival

A couple weeks ago this was just an idea we hoped people would connect with.

Watching this community rally around storytelling, climbing culture, adventure, film, and Yosemite has been incredible.

Weโ€™re honestly overwhelmed in the best way.

Thank you to every single person who backed the Kickstarter, shared a post, sent encouragement, or believed in what weโ€™re building here.
