🤠Intern Spotlight: Learning Through Experience

The Mariposa Family Resource Center is proud to recognize Lola and Dez, participants in our Internship Program, for their hard work, growth, and dedication.

Through this program, interns gain valuable real-world experience while developing important life and employment skills such as communication, responsibility, teamwork, problem-solving, and self-confidence. We believe that some of the best learning happens through hands-on experiences and meaningful community connections.

A special thank you to Shawna Dahl for partnering with us to provide opportunities that help our interns learn and grow in a unique and supportive environment. Working with horses teaches patience, consistency, leadership, and confidence—skills that extend far beyond the arena.

Did you know that Shawna is also a vendor with Central Valley Regional Center? Eligible CVRC clients may be able to have equine lessons and services funded through their Individual Program Plan (IPP), making these valuable experiences more accessible to individuals and families throughout our community.

We are grateful for partnerships that help create pathways for success and provide opportunities for youth and young adults to discover their strengths, build skills, and work toward their goals.

Please join us in celebrating Lola and Dez and the incredible progress they are making!

💕This event is Hosted by Shawna Dahl and not the MFRC flier credited to her program as well.

It all starts with tabling ideas and sharing feedback. We invite you to this opportunity to connect and engage in a meaningful way.
All individuals in attendance will be asked to adhere to some basic boundaries of respect, courtesy and grace towards fellow participants. This event is open to the general public.

Sure, you might see us dressed professionally, leading groups, connecting families to resources, and showing up with a smile.

But behind the scenes? There are last-minute supply runs, forgotten coffee cups, overflowing to-do lists, anxious thoughts, event-day chaos, and plenty of moments where we’re figuring things out as we go.

The truth is, we’re not perfect. We overthink. We get nervous. We make mistakes. We have messy days just like everyone else.

What keeps us going is the heart behind the work. We care deeply about the families we serve and the Mariposa and Mountain communities we call home. Every event, support group, resource, and conversation comes from a genuine desire to help our neighbors feel seen, supported, and connected.

So here’s a little behind-the-scenes reminder: Family Advocates are human too. ❤️

And honestly, if you see us running around looking a little chaotic before an event... just know we’re doing it with a lot of love. 🦋

✨ Some people lead programs. Others transform communities.

⛰️ Amber Scroggins is a fierce force to be reckoned with. What began as a volunteer opportunity as a CASA Advocate grew into a calling to serve families, children, and individuals throughout Mariposa County.

🦋 Today, Amber serves as the Program Director for both the Mariposa Family Resource Center and CASA, two programs under Alliance for Community Transformations that have flourished under her leadership.

🐎 Amber has dedicated countless hours to rebuilding, strengthening, and reimagining these programs so they can better serve our community. Her vision, determination, and heart have helped transform challenges into opportunities and create safe, welcoming spaces where people feel seen, heard, and supported.

☕️ While many know Amber as the warm and inviting person who will sit on the couch and have an honest conversation with anyone who walks through our doors, those who work alongside her know another side as well: a relentless advocate who fights fiercely for her clients, her staff, and her community. She leads with compassion, integrity, and an unwavering belief that every person deserves support and a chance to thrive. The impact Amber has made reaches far beyond our office walls. Her mentorship, encouragement, and dedication empower our team every day. Simply put, without Amber’s leadership and steadfast support, Fallon and Kiki would not be able to do as much as they do for the families we serve.

Thank you, Amber, for your vision, your strength, your heart, and your commitment to making Mariposa County a better place for all. We are grateful for you today and every day. 💜

We’ll take every opportunity to tell you about the Mariposa Family Resource Center because you never know who might need support, resources, connection, or a safe place to belong. 😆📣

Yes, we might be a little passionate about what we do... but that’s because every flyer shared, every conversation started, and every post seen could help connect someone to the services they need. ❤️

So while we’re here vigorously promoting the MFRC, don’t forget about this week’s programs:

🧠 Headspace Circle — Thursday at 2:00 PM this weeks topic “what fills my cup?”

☕ Coffee & Chaos — Friday at 4:00 PM we will have a paint n sip 🎨

💚 Grief Peer Support Group with Evergreen — Saturday at 2:00 PM and bring something to share and honor your loved! 🕊️

Come as you are. Bring a friend. We’re here for our community every step of the way.

🦋 There is something special about seeing families come together.

🍦 Our Ice Cream Social at Creekside Terrace brought neighbors, children, parents, and friends together for an afternoon filled with laughter, conversations, connection, and community. Watching families share a sweet treat, children play together, and neighbors get to know one another reminded us why community matters so much. These moments of togetherness help create a sense of belonging, unity, and support that makes Mariposa such a special place to call home. 🍦

As we reflect on these joyful memories, our hearts are also with the victim along with Creekside residents and everyone affected by the tragic incident that occurred later that evening. What happened has impacted many members of our community, and we want those affected to know that they are not alone. Now more than ever, we believe in the power of showing up for one another.

The Mariposa Family Resource Center invites Creekside residents, neighbors, and community members to join us on Saturday, June 13, from 12:00 PM–3:00 PM as we come together once again. This gathering is an opportunity to show love, support, compassion, and solidarity for the families and residents of Creekside while continuing to strengthen the connections that make our community resilient.

Together, we can remind one another that even in difficult times, we are stronger when we stand together. 🦋
