Some nights leave you feeling especially thankful. đź’›

Tonight, we had the honor of attending opening night of The Amazing Lemonade Girl, a truly remarkable performance by the talented young cast at Market Street Music Conservatory in Marion, IL.

The play tells the real-life story of Alexandra Scott, the young pediatric cancer patient turned inspiration behind Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, and it was incredibly moving from beginning to end. Watching these students bring such an important story to life was emotional, powerful, and achingly familiar in so many ways.

To make the evening even more meaningful, the conservatory graciously chose to donate proceeds from the after-show lemonade and cookie stand to the Marshall Kids Cancer Foundation. We are deeply humbled and honored by their generosity and support.

We cannot thank this group enough... not only for sharing their incredible talents, but for using their voices to spread awareness, compassion, and support for children and families walking this journey.

The group has one more showing tomorrow night at 6:30 PM, and we strongly encourage attendance. The Amazing Lemonade Girl is a beautiful and meaningful production that deserves to be seen and supported. đź’›

Thank you for reminding us how powerful storytelling, kindness, and community can truly be. 💛🎗💛

"You don’t go back to who you were before cancer."

And that’s true for kids, too.

Just because their hair grows back doesn’t mean the experience disappears. The impact lingers in ways you can’t always see. In how they think, how they feel, and how they move forward.

Awareness matters.
Understanding matters.
Compassion matters.
Support matters.

Because survivorship is more than just surviving.

This is a play about hope, kindness, and persistence and choosing good over bad and happy over sad.

This play is based on the life story of Alexandra Flynn Scott (1996-2004) who, at the age of four, had her first lemonade stand to raise money for cancer research. The play takes place when she is 8. Alex was fiercely determined to make and difference and help others despite the challenges she faced amidst her own cancer journey (neuroblastoma). Her story reminds us all that a single person can change the world – one act, or even one cup at a time. It is a story of hope and heart, kindness, persistence, and love. The foundation in her name has raised over $300 million and has funded more than 1,500 research projects aimed at finding better treatments and cures for pediatric cancers.

This play calls for community involvement. At the end of the play, there will be a lemonade and cookie stand which will be accepting donations for a regional pediatric cancer foundation. The proceeds will be donated to Marshall Kids Cancer Foundation, a non-profit out of Greenville, Illinois. That foundation is named after the founder’s son Marshall, who is currently fighting leukemia. Their mission is as follows: To let mothers, fathers, and families know they are not alone, and to provide love, guidance, and a community that stands with them through every step. The foundation provides caring hands and financial support to those families.

This is pediatric cancer on a weeknight before bed.

Six of these pills are chemotherapy.
One is a steroid.
One is to manage the side effects from that steroid.

And that’s before everything else they're trying to manage… and the trick bag full of additional medications just to handle the side effects.

“Mom, I have two more years to go, right?”

Two more years of pills.
Of counting, cutting, and planning life around pills.

While many kids take a multivitamin, pediatric cancer patients take medication labeled: “Hazardous - use caution when handling and administering.”

This is pediatric cancer.

Common Cancer Question #3 đź’›

Why does treatment last so long, even when a child feels better?

Because it’s not just treating what you can see, it’s also targeting cancer cells that may still be hiding. Continuing treatment helps reduce the risk of relapse and protect long-term health.

For Marshall, chemotherapy for his acute lymphoblastic leukemia began in October 2024. By March 2025, he was declared cancer-free (in remission!) and began a three-year maintenance phase to keep it away. In March 2028, he’ll get to ring the bell marking the official end of his cancer treatment. 🎗💛🎗💛

Every step has a purpose.

A LEGACY OF LOVE LIVES ON đź’›
Giving in memory.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the loved ones of Lucille Rasler for celebrating her life in such a meaningful way.

Lucille was an honorary great-grandmother to our Marshall. At 97 years old, she left behind a legacy defined by generosity, ambition, and deep love.

We are incredibly grateful to her swim team, affectionately known as the Swim Angels, for their generous memorial donation to the Marshall Kids Cancer Foundation in her honor. What a beautiful way to continue her impact.

Lucille’s legacy lives on through acts of kindness like this, and we are so thankful to be a small part of it. 💛🎗

Some stories deserve more than a caption. đź’›

Behind every diagnosis is a parent.
A family.
A story that matters.

That’s why we’re introducing a new series:
From a Parent’s Heart

A space where real parents can share their experiences, their fears, their hope, and their truth... in their own words.

Because no one can explain this journey better than the ones living it. And if you’re a parent walking this road… we hope you see these stories and feel a little less alone. 💛🎗

The Power of Friendship đź’›

One of the most meaningful things a child going through cancer can experience… is being treated the same.

Marshall had that in his friend, Ace.

Ace never looked at him differently. Not once. He showed up.... through the hard days, the in-between moments, and everything that came with it. Same friendship. Same loyalty. No hesitation.

When so much of a child’s world changes, that kind of consistency means everything. It reminds them they’re still just a kid… still a friend… still themselves.

Friendship like that is powerful. It brings normalcy into the middle of the unimaginable. đź’›

And sometimes, the greatest gift you can give a child fighting cancer is simply showing up and loving them the same way you always have.

That’s the kind of impact we believe in.

Our goal as a foundation is to be there for families who need someone to show up... especially when it matters most.
