Wounded Heroes Day, April 21, 2024, at 7:00 PM Charlotte, NC
Who: The Independence Fund and Honored Guests
What: An evening concert with Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band honoring SGT Michael Verardo and North Carolina’s bravest. Tickets will be free of charge to Veterans, First Responders, and their families. Please join us as the Queen City is lit up in America's colors on North Carolina’s 4th annual Wounded Heroes Day.
When: Sunday, April 21, 2024, at 7:00 PM
Where: The Revelry North End, 701 Keswick Ave Ste 110, Charlotte, NC 28206
Why: In 2021, Governor Cooper signed Wounded Heroes Day into law, a bill led by Union County's Representative David Willis marking April 24th of each year, as Wounded Heroes Day. In honor of Union County's Michael Verardo, April 24th is Michael's Alive Day, the day he suffered catastrophic and life-changing injuries in Afghanistan. Since he was injured, SGT Verardo has endured over a decade of speech, visual, cognitive, and occupational therapies, including 120 surgeries. For the wounded, the fight is never over, and Wounded Heroes Day takes the time to honor their sacrifice.
Members of the Veteran and First Responder communities from all over the state will be in attendance so this will be a rare opportunity for all of us to build stronger bonds with others who have dedicated themselves to a life of service. Please share this message with your organization and staff, family members, and post on social media to amplify outreach to the First Responder and Veteran communities for all those who can attend.
This promises to be both an entertaining and patriotic evening as Gary and the Band play while the Queen City is lit up in America’s colors for North Carolina’s 4th annual Wounded Heroes Day.
