📢 Important Update: St. Clair County Emergency Management Agency is Switching to Everbridge

St. Clair County is officially migrating its emergency and weather alerting platform from Code RED to Everbridge. Due to recent technical issues with the previous provider, the County EMA is making this move to ensure you get life-saving information without delay.

The purpose was to coordinate our Volunteer Reception Center plan and integrate it into their disaster response plans. When disaster strikes communities are left vulnerable, stripped of shelter, clean water and the basics of survival. While many humanitarian agencies focus on large-scale operations, one organisation with Rotary at its heart Disaster Aid UK & Ireland has carved out a unique role🌍🤝

Hurricane Melissa left deep scars across Jamaica — but thanks to donors, Rotary partners, and our humanitarian teams, relief is moving with speed, equipment, and purpose.

Here’s what’s already happening on the ground:
• Emergency flights land first — over 20 planes loaded with food, water, medical supplies, tarps, and emergency kits.
• Generators arrive next — powering clinics, community hubs, police stations, and vulnerable homes.
• Starlink systems go live — restoring communications in cut-off mountain areas and volunteer centers.
• Tools follow fast — saws, nail guns, power tools, and rebuild equipment to stabilize damaged structures.
• Water systems are deployed — purification units, solar lighting, and a new 650-gallon tank supporting long-term volunteer housing.
• Daily missions push deeper — teams reaching remote mountain communities with essential supplies.
• Rebuild operations begin — homes scouted, materials sourced, and multi-team efforts launched with partner NGOs.

One of the most urgent calls came from the Mustard Seed Children’s Home, caring for disabled and special-needs children. With communications down for nearly a week, their situation was critical.
Our teams responded immediately — delivering a generator, emergency supplies, and on-site assessment to secure power, water, medical support, and safe access.
