School is in full swing at Institution Mixte Compassion Divine in Damien. You can sponsor a student for $60 for a whole year. We have sponsors for approximately 30 of the 330 students we need sponsors for in order for us to meet teacher payroll. THE NEED IS GREATER THAN EVER!!!

Today was the first day of school, and great news!!! Institution Mixte Compassion Divine has more students than expected. Val tells me that he has nearly 350 students, ages 3 through 13, attending school which started today. That also means that he has to hire more teachers.

We need $1,830 per month to pay the salary of the 13 teachers plus other staff at the school. But you can help with a one-time per year donation of $60. We are asking 350 people (one per student) to sponsor a student for the entire school year. If we can reach that goal, we will have more than enough to cover the teachers' salaries all school year, and allow some school improvements (which Val currently pays out of his own pocket).

We currently have eight of the 350 we need and the first teacher payday is Sept. 30.

Saturday was Kindergarten Graduation at Institution Mixte Compassion Divine in Damien Port au Prince Haiti. Here are some of the scenes from the ceremony.

The students start back to school in September. Please help us support the school by sponsoring a student for $60 for the entire school year. There are 304 students and if every one is sponsored we can cover the teachers salaries for the whole year.

These are students at Institution Mixte Compassion Divine in Damien, Port au Prince, Haiti. There were 304 students who attended the school at the end of the just completed school year, which runs September through June.

Because students and their families cannot afford to pay for the school, Equipping Haiti is looking to get each student sponsored. If each student is sponsored at $60 per student, it will cover the cost of teacher salaries for the entire school year.

We are looking for 304 people to make a one-time contribution to sponsor a student for the entire school year. This post includes photos with names of 36 students. We will be adding more as they become available.

Please pick a student to sponsor for the new school year. Send your contribution to Equipping Haiti, a Marion, IL-based 501(c)(3) organization which partners with this school to provide and education and an opportunity to help break the cycle of poverty in Haiti.

Today is the final teacher payday of the school year for teachers at Institution Mixte Compassion Divine in Haiti. Unfortunately, we haven't collected the funds to meet payroll. We are only halfway to our need of $1,500 to meet the monthly payroll.

That's right, the 13 staff members make a combined $1,500 in a month.

I'm asking you to please dig into your pockets and make a contribution to Equipping Haiti. It's simple. 15 people donate $50, or 10 people donate $75. Maybe there is a generous person out there who can contribute $100 to the cause.

Did you know the average purchase at Starbucks is $7 to $10? If 100 people passed up Starbucks for just one day, that would cover this month's need.

School starts again in September, and we will be looking to have people sponsor an entire student for a year for just $60.
