Please join us for Jeff King’s Introduction to Permaculture presentation at the Corpening Memorial YMCA in Marion on Tuesday, November 17, from 2:30 to 3:30 PM.

Jeff will introduce the history and philosophy behind the permaculture movement, explain key terminology and principles, and share practical ways to incorporate permaculture concepts into your existing gardening practices.

Whether you’re new to permaculture or simply interested in making your garden more sustainable and resilient, this will be a great opportunity to learn some ideas you can put into practice.
This program is free and open to the public, so feel free to invite friends, family, and fellow gardeners!

I have some small glass jars available for FREE. These are great for saving and storing seeds/seed heads. They are at the NCCE-McDowell NC Cooperative Extension- McDowell County Center, County Services Bldg, 2nd Floor, 60 E. Court St, Marion.

Still one day left for the Great Southeast Pollinator Census. If you haven't counted or want to do another count, it's only 15 minutes sitting next to a flower bed. I may even do another count.

Great Southeast Pollinator Census Page

The Great Southeast Pollinator Census starts TODAY, Friday, Aug 21. It will last until Monday, Aug 24. This makes up for the poor weather we are experiencing. Get out there. It only takes 15 minutes for the actual count, then just a bit more work to enter your data. Easy peasy!

The McDowell County Extension Master Gardener Volunteers have a booth at Pioneer Day in Old Fort. Learn about medicinal plants, native plants, herbs and the Master Gardener program. Other vendors, educational booths, food trucks, and live music are participating as well. Join in the fun. We are here until 4:00pm!
