Middle Child, Inc. (The Mike Strang Scholarship Foundation) Middle Child Inc. The name is MIDDLE CHILD The Mike Strang Scholarship Foundation. Our goal is to keep building the foundation until it is self perpetuating.

(The Mike Strang Scholarship Foundation) is a 501(c)(3) corporation that awards two scholarships each year to graduating seniors pursuing a degree in nursing or construction. My wife Tatia, Mike’s best pals Mike and Pat Dugger and I formed this after we lost Mike as a way for us to deal with the loss and try to move forward in a positive direction. Mike was the middle child in our family and as I

am sure you know had a very dry, sarcastic and hilarious sense of humor. He never missed an opportunity to use the middle child syndrome as a tongue and cheek way to chide us all and we thought it a perfectly fitting name for the foundation. Mike also owned a construction company and was very proud of my sister Michelle’s nursing career. With that in mind, we decided to give 2 scholarships away each year to graduating seniors heading into the construction and/or nursing fields. We pay the money directly to the college or university to be applied to the student’s account. To date we have raised about $100,000.00 through various fundraisers….raffles, bowling tourneys, fish fries etc. We are currently giving two 1,000.00 scholarships per year which is about a semester of tuition at John A. Logan College. Obviously we would like to be able to increase that amount as the foundation grows. Thanks for your continued support!!!

Run for Fun in 21- boat poker run is coming up June 19th! Pre-registration is available through a link on Pyramid Acres at Lake of Egypt page. Bring your dad, if you’re lucky enough to still have him, and celebrate a day early!. Half of the proceeds go to our foundation and the other half to the Austin Wade foundation.

Tatia Strang and Kelley Schwartz met with Denise Dierkes from the Austin Wade Foundation to present her with a check from the boat poker run. Together with help from many we raised 5,266.00 for the 2 foundations and had a great time in the process! Thanks everyone!

Middle Child Inc is proud to be a part of the Peggy Roth Memorial Boat Poker Run on June 20th at the Lake of Egypt. Come join a fun day on the lake playing poker for a cash prize. The cost is $10 a hand. This fundraiser will help two well deserved charities; Middle Child Inc (helping to provide scholarships to high school seniors) and The Austin Wade Foundation (helping to assist families who have children with cancer). Contact Tatia Strang to register early. If you register before June 13th, you get 5 free tickets for door prizes. AND speaking of Door prizes, we are still accepting donations and $75.00 sponsorships. Pre-registered boats can leave Pyramid acres marina at 11:00 am and the rest will leave at 12:00 pm. We will have event T-shirts you can preorder for 15.00. Rupert's famous Bar-B-Que will be at the marina and a DJ will start at 7:00 pm. Can't wait to see everyone there. You can also play a hand on land.
