💜 An Important Update from Lotus Recovery House 💜

Today, we are sharing some difficult news with our community. Lotus Recovery House has closed its doors.

Lotus has been more than a house. It has been a place of hope, healing, second chances, laughter, tears, hard conversations, new beginnings, and women learning to believe in themselves again.

We are incredibly grateful to every person who has supported Lotus along the way. To our community partners, donors, volunteers, advocates, families, and everyone who showed up for our ladies, thank you. Your support made a difference, even when you may not have been able to see it.

Most importantly, to every woman who has walked through the doors of Lotus: your story does not end because this chapter does. Take what you learned, the relationships you built, and the strength you discovered with you into whatever comes next. Keep going. 💜

Although the doors of Lotus Recovery House are closing, the impact of the lives touched here will continue far beyond these walls.

From all of us at Lotus, thank you for being part of this journey and for believing that recovery is possible.

With gratitude,
The Lotus Recovery House 💜
Naketa😊

🌿 Saturday Recovery Reminder

Self-care in recovery isn’t selfish. It’s part of the work.

Sometimes healing looks like meetings, treatment, accountability, and hard conversations. And sometimes it looks like stepping outside, feeling the sun on your face, sitting under a tree, taking a walk, or simply giving yourself permission to be still.

Nature reminds us that growth takes time. 🌱
There are seasons for blooming and seasons for simply putting down roots.

Today, take a little time for YOU. 💜

Breathe deep. Choose peace. Keep growing.

💜 THURSDAY RECOVERY EDUCATION | DID YOU KNOW?

Addiction isn’t simply a matter of someone needing to “make better choices.”

Repeated substance use can change areas of the brain involved in decision-making, judgment, stress, impulse control, reward, and memory.

That’s part of why telling someone to “just stop” usually isn’t helpful.

But here’s the part we don’t talk about enough:

🌱 The brain can heal.

With time, recovery, treatment, healthy relationships, structure, and support, people can rebuild their lives and develop new patterns.

Recovery may not happen in a perfectly straight line. Healing rarely does.

At Lotus Recovery House, we believe education helps replace judgment with understanding.

Instead of asking:
“Why won’t they just stop?”

Try asking:
“What support might help this person recover?”

That one change in perspective can make a world of difference. 💜

✨ Addiction is treatable. Recovery is possible. People do recover.

💜 Let’s break the stigma.

Addiction does not erase someone’s worth, their potential, or their humanity.

Behind every struggle is a person with a story. Someone’s daughter. Someone’s mother. Someone’s friend. Someone who deserves compassion, support, and the opportunity to heal.

We don’t have to understand someone’s entire journey to treat them with dignity.

Choose compassion over judgment.
Choose support over stigma.
Believe in recovery. 🌱

🛶 Recovery is about so much more than staying sober. 💜

Yesterday, some of the ladies from Lotus Recovery House traded their normal Saturday routine for kayaks, sunshine, water, laughter, and a little adventure.

Recovery is hard work. It’s accountability, meetings, healing, learning new coping skills, rebuilding relationships, finding employment, and facing things we once tried to escape from.

But recovery also has to include learning how to LIVE again.

It’s discovering new things you enjoy. It’s laughing until your stomach hurts. It’s spending time in nature. It’s building healthy friendships. It’s realizing you can have an amazing day, make beautiful memories, and experience genuine joy without drugs or alcohol.

These outings may look like “just kayaking” from the outside, but they’re so much more than that.

We’re building a life worth protecting. 🌿

Yesterday was a reminder that recovery can be beautiful, adventurous, peaceful, hilarious, and FUN.

We are incredibly proud of the women at Lotus for continuing to show up for themselves and for each other, one day and one new memory at a time. 💜

This is recovery, too. 🛶☀️🌿

We wanted to take a moment to highlight this painting hanging in our dining room. It was a Christmas gift to us from our founder Riley Tangeman and hand-painted by the beloved local artist Tashema Davis. 👩‍🎨

We love the colors and symbolism within it— that through faith in our Creator, we can find strength and hope to lift our spirits through our darkest times. 🕊️

Thanks for this beauty Tashema!
