💥Superhero Camp Recap! 💥

On day one at Superhero Camp, we spend time getting to know how we will be together and what we know to be true about everyone. We do this through our ‘3 Rules’ and ‘Declarations!

Our 3 rules are:
1️⃣ Listen Well
2️⃣ Be Kind and Loving
3️⃣ Use Your Words

We also taught our campers five empowering truths about themselves with fun poses:

You are CREATIVE
You are UNIQUE
You are WORTHY
You are CAPABLE
You are READY

Today’s topic was Problems & Emotions, featuring the story ‘What Do You Do With A Problem?’ By Kobi Yamada. Miss Erica led us through a debrief of the story with an engaging yoga flow.

In our games, campers discussed their emotions and solved problems like crossing “lava” as a team and getting creative to get their teammates across the lava.

Our craft activity was making “Settle Your Glitter” bottles. You can find a tutorial on this fun and calming craft on our YouTube Channel (linked in our bio). And of course, we had snack time was extra special with popcorn sprinkled with “glitter” (colorful sugar).

We had a camper who, by many standards, would be considered a 'problem child.' He was incredibly fast and strong, but faced challenges needing extra attention. At Superhero Camp, we worked through those difficulties, unlocking his potential in unique ways.

Superhero Camp offers a 5-day experience for children to learn about stress, emotions, their brains, and overcoming limiting beliefs – our 'mind bandits'. It's about creating a safe, accepting space.

I know that you’re probably really interested in my beverage order, but what I want you to know is that we are getting so close to superhero camp and we’re also very close to making sure all of our costs are covered and everything is taken care of.

We still need to raise $2719 in the next four days. We think the easiest way to do this is for 27 people to give $100 a piece… Or thereabouts. Yesterday seven people gave gifts between $20 and $500 to get us $931 closer.

I’ll be updating you every morning. And I hope we can celebrate reaching this goal together. Superhero Camp has always been a community-wide effort for both the Grant Co community and the Lark’s Song community. (3 of the 7 gifts from yesterday were from individuals outside the state of Indiana)
