Hope to see folks out on the greenway tomorrow for the Joseph McDowell Historic Facts Fun Run/Walk anytime between 9 and 11 am. Test your knowledge about McDowell/Marion history while enjoying time on the greenway. The walk/run starts at the McDowell House trailhead and goes to Round Hill and back. Booklets will be available with information needed to answer questions. Participants will be eligible for prize drawings for participants who complete the ~2 mile section and accurately answer the questions. Let's celebrate 175 Years of McDowell and City of Marion!

Answer questions while you walk/run the Joseph McDowell Catawba River Greenway. Participants who answer all 10 questions correctly will be eligible for prize drawings.

Come along and enjoy our pet parade and take a look at the animals who are looking for the right loving family to be a part of. Family friendly fun for all at the YMCA!

There will be prizes awarded in 3 categories: Most historical-Pet/human lookalike costumes and Most creative

Entry fee is $5 paid at the event.

All proceeds will be split evenly amongst the 5 groups that will be there

Each rescue and the shelter will have tables set up as well as pets for adoption

Domestic animals only!

Catawba River Greenway

Join in on a historic fun run/walk on September 22 anytime between 9 and 11 am at the Joseph McDowell Catawba River Greenway, McDowell House trailhead. Gather your family or friends or just do it yourself.

Answer historic questions about the founding of McDowell County while you run or walk a portion of the greenway. The run/walk will go around Round Hill.

You will have an opportunity to visit Round Hill Cemetery that has had improvements made this past year. If you answer all historic questions correctly, you will have the opportunity to win a prize. Learn about the our heritage while enjoying a visit to a historic site.

The tour will provide information on prominent citizens from Marion's past and the homes that they built and occupied. The tour will be in a Church bus and space is limited.
