Down 10–7 against the team that entered the weekend ranked No. 1 in the state in the USSSA power rankings. Dawgs weren’t done. 🔥
The highlight of our Smashing Pumpkins weekend was an 11–10 walk-off win over the Heat—and it took several Dawgs to finish the job.
Jayden Thomas sparked the rally with a double, and Lorenzo Hernandez brought home two to pull the Dawgs within one. Aidan Wilkins followed with the game-tying RBI single.
Then Aidan showed why knowing the situation matters: when the defense started walking off with only two outs, he took third.
Bryce Coburn finished it. After battling through a seven-pitch at-bat to a full count, he hammered a double past the third baseman to bring Aidan home and give the Dawgs the win.
The weekend opened with a 15–0 victory over Mustangs Hughes, with Jaxten Noland and Xavier Simmons combining for a one-hit shutout behind an error-free defense.
Against the Indiana Arabians in pool play, the Dawgs battled back to tie it at 5–5 before falling 6–5. A second matchup with the Arabians ended our run in the semifinals, 10–3.
A 2–2 weekend with plenty to build on—and a reminder of what can happen when you keep competing until the final out.
