We are gearing up for our Bear Hunt! 🐻

This annual event is one of our favorite ways that we get to honor Megan by giving kids with life altering circumstances and their families the chance to make memories that last a lifetime.

Our kids this year have a common theme - they are overcomers!

For being a soft place to land for a hurting child.
For not being afraid to get too attached.
For loving kids that aren’t always easy to love.
For their willingness to put others ahead of themselves and their families.
For sacrificing so much for those in need.

You don't have to be perfect to be a foster parent.

You don't need the perfect house, schedule, or all the answers.

You need a safe home, willingness to learn, and a heart ready to show up for children during a difficult season.

There are children waiting in our community for just that.

If you've ever thought, "Maybe I could foster..." please don't dismiss that thought.

Ask the questions, learn about the process, and take the first step toward becoming a foster parent.

What do your donations to Live Like Megan Foundation go to?

It might buy a pair of shoes for a child who enters foster care today.

It may buy diapers for a kinship family who wasn’t expecting to take in a baby.

It might help furnish a bedroom for a child who’s never had a clean mattress.

It could mean a car seat for a late night placement call.

It may make a difference that allows a foster family to say “yes” to a child who comes with nothing.

Thank You, Yancey County! 💙

We are incredibly grateful to the Yancey County Board of Commissioners for once again investing in the mission of the Live Like Megan Foundation through Opioid Settlement Grant funding.

This is the second year that Yancey County has chosen to support our work, and we truly cannot put into words what that means to us. Your willingness to see the work we are doing, recognize the needs of children and families impacted by addiction, and believe in our mission means more than you know.

Because of partnerships like this, we are able to continue showing up for children and foster families when they need us most. And now, we are especially excited that Yancey County Meg’s Place will be opening very soon!🏡💙

We are so thankful that Yancey County sees the value in investing in children, strengthening families, and supporting the foster care community. Thank you for trusting us with this funding and for helping us expand our reach beyond McDowell County.

Nearly half of all car seats are installed or used incorrectly.

That’s why we’re excited to host a Child Passenger Safety (CPS) Technician Certification Course right here at McDowell Emergency Services—and we’re inviting our community to benefit from it!

On July 24, certified CPS technicians and technician candidates will be providing FREE car seat checks to help make sure your little ones are riding as safely as possible.

✔ Hands-on safety education
✔ Open to all caregivers
