West Marion Inc. has received a grant from the Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC Foundation to explore how residents of McDowell County engage with the local food system. Everyone in the community plays a role in the food system—whether through grocery shopping, dining at local restaurants, visiting produce stands or tailgate markets, growing their own food, or having meals delivered. With this grant, our goal is to build the capacity to make locally grown food more accessible and available to residents.
