As Executive Director of Centro Unido Latino Americano, I had the honor of representing our community in Washington, D.C. this week alongside Hispanic Federation and 150 community leaders from across the country in conversations with policymakers, national organizations, and advocates to discuss some of the most pressing issues affecting our communities, including immigration, healthcare access, AI & Tech, education, and non-profit protection.
Advocacy is about more than attending meetings. It is about carrying the stories, concerns, and hopes of the families who trust us to be their voice when they cannot be in the room themselves. Every conversation was an opportunity to remind decision-makers that behind every policy are real people, real families, and real communities.
I return to North Carolina inspired, energized, and more committed than ever to continuing the work of building a stronger, safer, and more empowered community.
Thank you to everyone who shares their stories, places their trust in us, and works alongside us every day. Together, we are proving that when communities organize, unite, and speak up, meaningful change is possible.
Our voices matter. Our communities matter. And we will continue showing up, speaking out, and advocating for a better future for all.

Como Directora Ejecutiva de Centro Unido Latino Americano, tuve el honor de representar a nuestra comunidad esta semana en Washington, D.C., junto a Hispanic Federation y más de 150 líderes comunitarios de todo el país. Participamos en conversaciones con legisladores, organizaciones nacionales y defensores comunitarios para abordar algunos de los temas más urgentes que afectan a nuestras comunidades, incluyendo inmigración, acceso a la salud, inteligencia artificial y tecnología, educación y la protección de las organizaciones sin fines de lucro.
La abogacía va mucho más allá de asistir a reuniones. Se trata de llevar las historias, preocupaciones y esperanzas de las familias que confían en nosotros para ser su voz cuando ellas no pueden estar presentes. Cada conversación fue una oportunidad para recordar a quienes toman decisiones que detrás de cada política hay personas reales, familias reales y comunidades reales.
Regreso a Carolina del Norte inspirada, fortalecida y más comprometida que nunca con continuar el trabajo de construir una comunidad más fuerte, segura y empoderada.
Gracias a cada persona que comparte su historia, deposita su confianza en nosotros y trabaja a nuestro lado todos los días. Juntos estamos demostrando que cuando las comunidades se organizan, se unen y levantan la voz, el cambio significativo es posible.
Nuestras voces importan. Nuestras comunidades importan. Y seguiremos presentes, alzando la voz y abogando por un futuro mejor para todos. 🇺🇸❤️✊🏽
