Marina in Motion is the organization raising money for the Dolphin Project. This project was first imagined by community member Candy Meyers-Owen as a way to promote Marina thru public art. Thru her hard work and dedication the City has dolphin sculptures at the entrance to city hall and in front of the shopping center where McDonald’s is located. After she passed away her husband Michael Owen wanted to honor her by completing the project. Due to his efforts and at his own expense there is another dolphin in Marina, the Peace Dolphin at the Marina Library. Mike had been working over the last several years to complete the last dolphin. This one would be cast in bronze and be located at the roundabout at Imjin Parkway and Preston Park, scheduled to be completed in 2024. Unfortunately, Mike passed away in November before he could complete the last dolphin. Community members want to honor Mike and Candy by completing the last dolphin. Mike was a man dedicated to this community and fought for the preservation of trees throughout Marina. His love of the environment, his community, and his wife will be honored through this project.
You can help us complete the project with your donation to Marina in Motion specifically for this project. Please email [email protected] to request a donation form. Thank you for supporting this project.
