Georgia Knights of Coulmbus Disaster Responders Georgia Disaster Responders Knights of Columbus program KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS SECOND RESPONDER PROGRAM (KC2R). The CDC will determine the local EMA requirements.

The program was initiated by the Supreme Knight on the 10th Anniversary of 9/11. Its mission is to prepared knights to assist First Responders (law enforcement, firefighters, emergency medical services, military, etc) in responding to domestic disaster and other incidents. Second Responders operate under a set of rules published by Supreme called the Scope of Practice. They also operate under othe

r rules and procedures established by the Federal, state and local Emergency Management Agencies for non-governmental agencies (NGOs) and taught during training. They must stay within these rules and procedures to maintain their status as “Good Samaritans” as defined by state law. In the Georgia Knights of Columbus Second Responder (GAKC2R) concept of operations each council will have a Council Disaster Coordinator (CDC). He will then form teams to meet those requirements. These teams are trained to county standards for the tasks they will be asked to perform. Each Grand Knight will track the volunteer hours of his council’s KC2R .
