From Everlasting to Everlasting by Linda Presely
A prayer of Moses the man of God.
1Lord, You have been our dwelling place through all generations.
2Before the mountains were born or You brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting You are God.
3You return man to dust, saying, “Return, O sons of mortals.”
4For in Your sight a thousand years are but a day that passes,
or a watch of the night.
The LORD chose specific people at various times to catalog the Living Word. His divine revelations were written upon stones, papyrus and parchment. From a divine perspective, it can be said that He writes upon the heart of each redeemed soul (2 Cor. 3:3).
Readers of the Word will discover that God has addressed the topic of life and death in different sections of the Bible. We are provided with the various aspects of temporal nature on earth and the promise of eternal life.
For example, Genesis covers extremely long lifespans (Gen 5:5). Shorter lifespans for humanity are recorded after The Flood (Gen. 6:3). Moses, in Psalm 90 captures the brevity of life on earth. Two fundamental facts of longevity are: 1) “Humans in God’s hands and plan”, and 2) the “Responsibility of Humans”.
What the redeemed are promised is eternity with Jesus. With God we have Hope, we have eternal life (John 3:16). Be assured that the redeemed ascend into Glory! Emotions surrounding death and dying are intense, whether you believe or do not believe in God.
Those left behind, will grieve for a while as they experience the separation that death brings to them. However, the redeemed do not grieve as the world grieves. The redeemed grieve in “Hope” (1 Thess.). This does not mean that we do not shed tears and feel sorrow. Those who experience the death of a loved one will cry, mourn, and feel the weight of loss in our minds and hearts for a season of time. That “time” frame is different for everyone as is the expression of grief. God will provide comfort and encouragement. Each redeemed is to extend those same qualities to those who mourn.
Memorial Day – May 25, 2026
For now, there will be homes with empty chairs around tables. Strong emotions will come to the forefront of hearts and minds. My prayer for you will be for comfort and a reminder that Jesus is just a prayer away. The LORD has promised …absent from the body [is] to be present with the LORD (2 Cor. 5:8).
This Memorial Day is another opportunity to extend thankfulness, grace and love to those who mourn.
Gold Star Mothers
1 Corinthians 13:4-8a
Love is patient, love is kind….it always protects, always trusts,
Always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.
There is a group of families whose lives reflect sacrificial love. They were first recognized and honored during World War I. They are referred to as Gold Star Families, Gold Star Mothers. 1 Corinthians chapter 13, verses 4-8 defines their sacrificial love for God and country.
Hope & Sacrificial Love
Families with children serving in the U.S. military began displaying a Service Flag in their windows — a white banner with a red border and a blue star for each child in active military duty. A gold star indicated the death of a child – whether in combat, from wounds or in a military accident. Their mothers' names are not written in the Bible. They nonetheless display sacrificial love. The highest honors often come with great sacrifice.
As I pray for you, please take time to pray for these families. If you know a Gold Star family, consider reaching out to them, expressing your appreciation and care.
Most of you are aware that I have the privilege of knowing two men who serve all the branches of the military and Christ-centered First Responders. This weekend is another opportunity to thank them for their “service” to our military and communities. You will find much encouragement on their websites. Their web addresses are as follows:
