Currently Botswana has 131,909 elephants as surveyed by KAZA over 21% of its land area (123,666 sq.km).

How many elephants do you think are actually in Botswana given the remaining 79% of land?

This graphic alone should give you pause to the narrative of endangered Elephants. They are not endangered in Southern / Eastern Africa. For the majority, they are likely overpopulated.

How can the people on the ground living alongside elephants actually benefit from elephants?

There needs to be a significant discussion swing from “saving” to “sustainable utilization” for balancing ecosystem and biodiversity sustainability as well as human wildlife conflict.
