John Knox Presbyterian Church Marietta GA Be Accepted and Encouraged Here This led to the organization of John Knox Presbyterian Church. There were 199 charter members.

In the fall of 1957, a group of 50 Presbyterians began meeting for worship in the East Marietta Community House on Lower Roswell Road. Shortly thereafter, construction started on our first building on six and one half acres at our present site on Powers Ferry Road. In March of 1958, initial services in the new facility were attended by a large gathering, both in Sunday School and Worship. In a special service on May 25, 1958, John Knox Presbyterian Church was formally organized by a Commission of the Cherokee Presbytery. Crowded facilities and a desire for an expanded program led to the construction of the Fellowship Hall in 1963, which was later used as a temporary Sanctuary. That same year, a concentrated Sanctuary building effort was begun. The Atlanta-based architectural firm of Toombs, Amisano and Wells was selected, with Tom Venulet as the primary designer. The firm was instructed to make the design dignified, simple and contemporary, with the inside activity determining outside appearance. The new Sanctuary was dedicated at a service in October1967. In this unique building, seating is on both sides and in front of the pulpit area, with accomodations for 500 people, including the choir, which is elevated in a balcony at the rear of the center section. Ground-breaking for the Christian Education Building, complete with nine classrooms, was held in July of 1979, and construction was finished before the following Easter. The new building greatly enhanced the Sunday School program for John Knox, as well as allowing an expanded weekday preschool program. Later expansions of the facilities included a newly renovated Fellowship Hall, dedicated in 1990, and a refurbishing of the Sanctuary, re-dedicated in May of 1998. John Knox is a growing and vibrant church with many of its charter members, and new members joining from a growing population base in booming East Cobb County. John Knox Presbyterian Church is looking toward the future with optimism and excitement. With the limitless boundaries that the future holds, John Knox's presence and outreach in Cobb County will continue to expand and prosper in its efforts to serve the community and the world through God's gift of Jesus Christ.

🎃 It’s backkkk!! 🎃

John Knox Presbyterian Church’s 3rd Annual Pumpkin Patch Fundraiser for Helping Hands has officially arrived!

A HUGE thank you goes out to our many volunteers who made the unloading of over 2,000 pumpkins possible! We are so grateful to our John Knox friends, family, and for our partnership with fpcmarietta. None of this would be possible without you!

All proceeds from selling pumpkins directly benefits the Helping Hands Ministry, which provides emergency short term aid to our community and neighbors are experiencing life emergencies that threaten basic security like a safe place to live, enough food, keeping kids in school, etc. John Knox has set up partnerships with local first responders and businesses to identify people who need this aid.

Our hours this year are:
Monday-Friday: 2:00pm - 8:00pm
Saturday: 10:00am - 8:00 pm
Sunday: 12:30pm - 6:00pm

Come visit us and pick the perfect pumpkin!

Yesterday, John Knox partnered with First Presbyterian Church of Marietta in a volunteer effort for their annual Rise Against Hunger meal packing event. With all volunteers working together, we packed over 18,000 rice and soy meal kits in two hours- each of which will go directly to a child in need. 🌾🌾

Rise Against Hunger works to help underserved people worldwide schedule food security and resilience through nutrition, education, and economic development.

John Knox Presbyterian Church continues to be inspired by and grateful for our friendship with First Presbyterian. Working together to be the hands and feet of Jesus is truly a blessing.

This is an annual event, and if you are interested in participating next year, keep an eye out for announcements! 🍚🌾
